Can we recall him from loan?
Crawley fans love him. They’re not a great team but he’s the shining star down there. If Kevin Betsy gets sacked we may look to move him up a division or two but if Betsy is there I expect we will be happy to let him stay and be their best player.
Also, this does warm my heart to see successful loans from day one. We’ve really struggled to match these players with clubs they will thrive in down the years and I think part of that reason was trying to place them too high up the league structure. It seems at some point we have taken a step back and thought differently about professional experience.
Great Success
- Balagizi is Crawley’s best player. He has three goals in seven games playing in a variety of midfield positions.
- Jaros has won the first team jersey at Stockport (and he’s doing great).
- Pitaluga has multiple man of the match awards already for Macclesfield, who have won every game.
- Clarkson has scored two worldies in his first three games at Aberdeen, including a game-winning free kick.
- Rhys Williams has become the number one CB for Blackpool - impressing with both his ball usage and defensive resilience.
- Conor Bradley is arguably Bolton’s best player, with two goals and two assists in his first six games. Being used as a RWB but in an attack minded 3-5-2.
Looking Promising
- Morton has not started often but impressed whenever he has been used, even at CB, doesn’t seem far off taking a starting XI role at Blackburn.
- Koumetio is playing for a terrible Austria Vienna side but, after a tough start, has now started their last two games including the Europa League qualifier against Fenerbahce. He assisted Vienna’s winner his last game - a lovely crossfield driven pass to beat Wolfsberger 2-1.
- Adam Lewis has made six appearances for Newport, starting three times. He started and assisted in their 3-2 win over Portsmouth last night.
- Anderson Arroyo started Alaves’ opening day win over Leganes, although he was an unused sub a week later as they beat his old side Mirandes.
Not a Great Start
- Owen Beck is adjusting to Portuguese football, no appearance yet having been an unused sub three times.
- Ojrzynski is currently being beaten out for the starter’s jersey at Radomiak and has no appearances.
Honestly, it feels like Liverpool have struggled to get one very good loan spell from their youngsters so to have six players already killing it just one month into the season is far above what I am used to covering.

Actually only noticed Crawley are a league 2 team…
We should cut that loan after the World Cup and send him to a League 1 team that’ll be pushing for promotion.
He’s at Crawley because he has a good relationship with the manager.
Unless the manager gets sacked, as Sweeting alluded to, he should absolutely be staying at Crawley.

The assumption that in Jan a team fighting to win promotion from League 1 would bring a loanee in is unlikely, unless theres a major injury crisis going on.
If Conors playing well at Crawley leave him be. Will help with confidence building.

The moves leading to these three goals could be made by our players, they are lovely. Admittedly a small sample size, but they seem to indicate that Crawley play a quick transition game between defence and attack, with some lovely passes and moves from the players. If that is indeed the case, it doesn’t matter in which league they are. He’s at a good place to learn how to play proper football and gets regular playing time.
Guess those idiots slamming him over the rumours are quiet now…

R Williams was having a bit of a mare at the weekend and got subbed off, manager mentioned about a knock afterwards 
I’m not sure that’s a fair reading. Appleton said he wasn’t at his best but came off because of the knock to his ankle, and that if he’s fit he will start today.
Also, the score was 1-1 when he came off and finished 3-3, so not sure how the Blackpool Gazette were able to determine that Thorniley (who came on for Williams) “sured things up at the back”.

That was an odd move for him in the first place. Presumably due to Portuguese contacts Ward had, but does anyone have insight into why they identified them as a club to send him to?

So, Bolton now have both the wingbacks from Liverpool.
It’s all part of FSG’s cunning plan. Get our wingbacks to develop in tandem this season; bring them back next season; flog both Trent and Robbo; spend the resulting proceeds on Bellingham.

They’re apparently one of the best teams in Portugal for developing young players but they had their own young left back to develop (maybe they expected to sell that player?).
Bolton already have a starter at LB but he just got a mid-long term injury so I expect we just judged that to be a better opportunity now.
