Academy still very influenced by ideas implemented by Klopp.
At the moment it doesn’t feel like many academy players will break into the first team under Slot.
Will be interesting to see if Slot will bring in his ideas over the next two years.
Like what, for example? I’m a bit jealous of Man City seemingly churning out youngsters of the highest quality year on year but it’s not like Liverpool’s academy isn’t doing anything of note.
First team has two pretty good academy graduates vying for starting positions and if Quansah sale goes through, club will have earned 60 million pounds from academy players this summer alone. That’s pretty good in my opinion, hopefully more will follow in both categories.

And it’s not just City - Chelsea will get probably twice the number of aggregate appearances next season from City academy grads than City will. What they maybe havent done that well is extract great value for them given how quickly several of them have neded up making a decently expensive move afterwards. But maybe the money for Palmer makes up for that by itself.

How does a 16 year old sign a 3 year contract? It is expected he would continue on a youth/non-professional contract beyond the age of 18?

Well, this is most unexpected. I genuinely don’t know how they can sign a kid from Liverpool’s academy. If it was Nemanja Matić’s home town club, I’d understand but I don’t see the connection here.

My guess is they have some sort of affiliation with a larger Serbian club? I know some teams in Serbia use ‘satellite clubs’. Maybe a similar situation here and if he does well, he will be transfered the likes of Red Star etc.
Edit: Some on that post said “FK Ušće is a feeder club for IMT, who play in the Serbian 1st division”
