I completely agree. I know it maybe taking it to an extreme but should fans be financially compensated for spending money attending finals where they lost on the back of this?
Additionally, the increase in commercial exposure should be taken into consideration. Without their success, they would not have gained the same amount of media attention or seen a growth in their Fanbase/commercial revenues.
Regarding the trophies, I personally don’t want to be awarded any titles under an asterix. A trophy is a statistic, a number. The experience is more personal, a memory, The success, the ride, the hugging and sharing of these moments with people you don’t know has been stolen from the fans. Additionally, for the Citeh fans the joy of these moments will be forever tainted, forever requiring justification.
All I want now is for them to be punished correctly. This would be to have their Titles removed, relegated two divisions and a Heavy fine.
Regarding the Fine, I want it to be fair rather than destructive. The Fine should be spread over an agreed term but importantly, this agreed yearly figure should be added and included as a negative in their reporting.

They should not just be stripped of titles during the cheating period. The cheating enabled them to continue their title wins in subsequent years after 2017. Those titles should be stripped off as well.
Let’s see whether the PL has the balls to deliver a punishment that’s fitting of the crime.

It seems that the appeal process will be relatively rapid. Judging by this from the Guardian, the appeals process could be finished and the sanctions announced well before the end of this season.
The verdict was reached more than three and a half years after the 134 charges were first brought and more than two years since disciplinary hearings began. According to the Premier League rulebook, the appeal process has a stricter time frame, whereby any party who wishes to appeal a decision by a judicial panel must do so by email within 14 days of a decision being announced. Under rule W.86 any hearing should conclude no longer than 12 weeks after the first appeal is submitted. Any decision by the appeal board must also be published, alongside full written reasons, within 30 days of the conclusion of the hearing.
Should City fail in their appeal, the judicial panel would then be expected to produce its verdict on the level of sanction applied to the club. Premier League rule W.64 describes the list of punishments available to a panel. Alongside levying a fine, any disciplinary committee could first suspend a club from competition, or levy a points deduction, or in the most extreme circumstances expel a club from competition altogether.

I agree! Atheir whole “growth” has been fabricated on the back of their recent success - achieved unfairly.

I think they will look to every loophole possible to get out of this. It could be they put the club up for sale, if to a degree, that will save face on the global stage… Probably say they have been treated unfairly or something of that ilk, and find they can’t be expected to continue against the bias.
This would really muddy the waters then regards compensating other clubs… maybe even those European clubs impacted will jump on compensation bandwagon.
Let us not forget, Abramovich did similar ‘shady’ investment with the other plastics to hoist them up the ladder, and they seem to be doing okay after it all… Don’t want the same again here.
To the name of the club itself and everything connected to it from now on in, these charges will end up being like your old Grandad’s undies… a shit stain that is impossible to remove.

They have been proved wrong, by a 3 year investigation.
City were cleared of separate financial fair play charges by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2020, having initially been given a two-year ban from European competitions by Uefa.
They weren’t cleared, they got off with it on a technicality where Uefa were found to have taken too long, or something along those lines.

Mancini’s dodgy dealings have already been widely circulated, can’t wait to hear what they’ve found out about Pep and how his brother became an executive then chairman of a club in the UAE with no previous involvement in football or in any sort of similar role beforehand.

I may be over simplying this, but:
The amount of time to reach a verdict would suggest a water tight case, where appeal is futile.
With the timeline mentioned by @peterroberts this will be over before the season ends.
The sanctions need to reflect the period of time when the charges are relevant PLUS all subsequent successes.
All titles stripped.
Major rolling points deductions.
Transfer bans.
Serious fines.

Where does the money from any fines / legal cases against them come form? Is it the owners or the club itself? If the club, I assume this would mean they would make a huge loss this year and then fall foul of FFP. Such a shame.
I agree with the fins, transfer bans and titles being striped, but those seasons need to be made void rather than passing onto 2nd place. There needs to be a serious repercusion to the league as well for not dealing with this as quickly as the should, so the stain of having multiple voided titles needs to be a reminder to any owner of what happens if you cheat.
Don’t agree with the rolling points deduction, I’d rather the P/L kick them out which gives the F/L the right to not take them thus forcing them into non-league

How would expulsion work in the unlikely event it happens. Immediately or from next season? Feels a bit pointless (pardon the pun) for them to continue the season. But then how do they work it out for teams that have and haven’t played city?
All very messy and implications for our game next week.
