Manchester City* - 130 charges (and counting...) (Part 1)

You are quite right. He’s a young lad, 21, friend of the family, good bloke… but terrible taste in football. We have been to a couple of Liverpool preseason friendlies here in the States, but he is City through and through. He goes all the way back… to some of Mansour’s earliest years!

You know how to do the twiiiice gesture, I’m sure. Use it unsparingly.

He was probably a Chelsea fan before 2009.

And you actually class him as a friend??

And a Utd fan before that.

A few years ago I was on holiday in Cornwall and met a City fan, while staying at a hotel in Polperro. The owner of the hotel introduced us and told him I was from Liverpool. As I shook his hand, he said “You’re from Liverpool? I’ll have to count my fingers now” He thought this was hilarious and laughed out loud. He followed this up with “Are they still nicking the wheels off planes at the airport? Again laughing out loud.
As much as I wanted to punch the cunt’s teeth out, I just about managed to keep my temper and gave him a ‘Gerrard glare’ as my wife pushed me out of the room. Fortunately, I managed to avoid him for the remainder of our stay.

I’ve known four City fans in my lifetime, one was my Uncle and his friend, both had lost their interest with the modern game.

Another was a good friend who sadly passed away before the first title win and his dad, not one of them was an arsehole and all but one has now passed, I know how two would have viewed it and Chris being Chris would have done gentle ribbing but treated it like anything he used to, it was a game of football in the end.

I lost touch with his dad who is now the only one I still believe is alive, I don’t see any of these in the City fans I see online or through the media.

Like all fan bases they’ve attracted the worst tribal followings, I see some of them seeping into our fan base.

The Man.City Messiah their Fans still adore…!!!

That’s fair enough but he isn’t comparable to my Uncle.

The correct answer would have been ‘sure, count them, then declare half that number on the books and then funnel the rest through an offshore account hidden from FIFA’.

Reading the story above, it is weird how people think it’s OK to say nasty stuff about scousers and the city. It adds to the feel of a sense of a National bias, which arguably is manifest even against the team.

I’ve been out of the country for years now, but at the time they were shooting each other in Moss Side, and there was a lot of heroin in Mancunia. Strange that Liverpool is singled out as the only place with societal problems.

Porto haven’t pulled any punches apparently. Oil Inc FC ‘disappointed and surprised’ the poor misunderstood paragons of virtue.

That is weird. I was in Uni (Salford) back in the early 90’s and I can tell you if Moss side was considered rough, nothing compared to some other parts of Manchester (and Salford). There were some places you simply didn’t go.

I’d expect similar in London and Birmingham. There were also a few little rough spots in Cardiff as well. Not on te scale of Manchester though. That place was a real eye opener.

Industrial cities that were built around industry that has gone, EU regeneration helped a lot of them and the fact they are a centre of a mass sprawl, it’s why smaller towns get this feeling of being left behind if they aren’t close to one of these sprawling metropolis.

There is nothing much different in any of them.

Something similar happened when I was away with my Mrs and lad about 10 years back. We were sitting outside a bar when an old bloke and a few family members entered. My lad had the home shirt on and the old bloke started cracking ‘jokes’ about how they’d have to watch their handbags and wallets because of the scousers. We could have been Australians for all he knew but obviously the opportunity to display his bigotry and ignorance was overwhelming.
Anyway, they sit down at the next table and start chatting away and laughing and joking with us like we’d known them for years. I genuinely think he thought he was just being funny and wasn’t aware how offensive all that shite is to most scousers.
Not long after this I changed jobs, still working in Liverpool, but there were just as many mancs working there as scousers and it’s fair to say that over the last 9 years I’ve grown to despise them. Constant snide comments about the city and people, sooner or later they will reveal themselves at some point. They are the most horrible, opinionated, bigoted and openly racist people you could ever meet. They don’t even like each-other in most cases.
The thing is - like the old bloke in the bar- I think most of them think they’re being witty and just engaging in banter but that boat has sailed for me, I’ve had enough of their shite and now have a zero tolerance policy with them, I just wont put up with it at all.
If in the future I found myself being subjected to the type of crap the old bloke was spouting he’d be getting weighed in on the spot, no question about that. Enough is enough with these cunts.

Something very odd in which they can’t seem to string more than 3 wins together, ever since they pipped us to the title have they done it.

Even considering the draws they get in the cups you’d think it’s an anomaly that would be at some point prevented, it’s rare for them to get to three to be fair.

With Soton, Everton (might get lucky again) and Chelsea over Xmas not to mention the cup tie with Arsenal (and Arteta’s record against Pep) you’d expect that run to continue a while longer
