Manchester City* - 130 charges (and counting...)

In his defence he’s only 4. Will give him a year to ensure it’s just a socialisation issue before returning :+1:

I agree with this. The right punishment would be to strip them from all their titles during the period they are charged for, and to relegate them for at least one or two seasons.

I won’t hold my breath.

Part of the issue is at that age, boys will swap clubs.

I knew Blackburn fans (both who I believe are still suffering) but Everton fans who became Man Utd fans and some who swapped over. I also know Liverpool fans who became Man Utd fans.

Always wonder about those who became Everton fans when they last won a trophy and their belief that Man Utd were spent.

I think they still were in 1999.

An old friend of mine and her husband have a son and they are both Man Utd fans, he is Liverpool :joy:

Like being an Arsenal fan at say 8-10 is based on a year or twos sort of success. You’ll find it is pretty brittle at that age.

I struggle to understand how someone like that could still support Man Utd today. Do you know whether they became Cheaty fans ~5 years ago?

We are talking about the mid to late 90s.

I’ve just checked one and yeah he stuck with Man Utd :joy:

When I was about 5 and first started taking an interest my dad told me it was time to pick a team. I told him that as he was a City fan I would pick City as well. My dad said "we’re not going to let you do that to yourself, try again.

that is not a big surprise. 115 charges to be heard ovr 12-15 weeks means the hearing itself won’t finish until January, then the 3 judges will need to review everything before writing up their final decision, so Spring sounds about right

The Man Cheaty Brown Envelope delivery service will have a lot of overtime to log by the sound then.

I thought they were already looking at it and the result was to come out in November. What have the PL being doing for the past year and a half?

Are the hearings in an open court ?

The PL should probably aim for the hearings to be in an open court.

I am honestly considering not watching a single game of football until at least that date.

I appreciate the timescale, complexity and everything with it but the whole thing and them still being able to carry on regardless has completely emptied any interest i have in the game.

Reports have been suggesting that the PL have taken their time as they are trying to make their case of each of the charges watertight - probably learning from the UEFA debacle, whereby Man City used technicalities to get out of stuff - time barring etc, and managed to pay their way out of it too.

This won’t end at the end of the of independent commission’s report - would expect City to make some kind of legal challenge and it end up in the courts and drag on.

No, behind closed doors.
