I think so. They didnt look great last season but pulled out results in a lot of games regardless. Halaand was a big part of that, but so was Alvarez coming in and offering them something different. Now their strategy is Halaand or bust, and it only takes a few games of him not finding his radar to all of a sudden look like they hit a bad run of form

Thought I heard on the commentary today city’s other forwards/wingers have 0 league goals. I haven’t fact checked that but it feels right. I hated Alvarez last year because I felt he was always going to create a chance: they don’t have that this year

I’m sure his mum thought him a beautiful beluga :space_invader:

Yeah I did wonder when Alvarez left if it would leave that option gone.

Probably not much today but Arsenal they could have taken 3pts with an Alvarez type player.

Gundogan, SIlva & Walker are showing their age, lacking the legs and the intensity in the team is not there, they also rely too much on Haalands goals too much.

And Gvardiol has gone since Doak showed him up.

Their slump honestly means nothing. This shitty club, unlike the ones at Manure and Arses, under Pep, they have shown season after season, they can catch up. I remember one season, they too had a bad start but ended up winning the title. But this time round, however, they are up against us and hopefully Slot can keep this up and ensure there is no catching up this time and the only thing that will catch up is the long arms of the laws.

Third one looks a bit like Sean Dyche.

Fair, fair. From this moment forward, Sweeting is officially the Farage of TAN.

I’ll put a poll up in the morning about renaming the account to Farage…

No need for the poll, just do it. After all Farage Sweeting Farage loves a good dictatorship…

I do wonder if at some point the media will begin to question the decisions Man City/Guardiola have made in the transfer window. They seem to always get a pass, I guess because they eventually win the league anyway, but the list of players they’ve let go is pretty staggering…

Taylor Harwood-Bellis: Youth academy product who was never given a chance. Signed for Southampton where is now club captain and England international at 22 years old.

Sergio Gomez: 23 year old left back who was sold to Sociedad and again was never given a real chance because Guardiola wants CBs in the FB positions. He’s been one of the best wingbacks in Spain this season and is a full Spanish international.

Cole Palmer: Goes without saying. Guardiola limited him to being someone who would get less than 10 minutes on the pitch when they were 4+ goals up, sometimes not even then. He moves to Chelsea and immediately becomes one of the best players in the league.

Pedro Porro: City actually took a loss on Porro, after loaning him out to Sporting Lisbon. He obviously comes back to the Premier League pretty quickly and has established himself as one of the best full backs in the league.

Ko Itakura: Japanese international left for Monchengladbach in 2022. Has become one of the best defenders in Germany and has recently been linked with Liverpool, Tottenham, Napoli, Bayern Munich and Juventus.

Douglas Luiz: Allowed to leave for Villa in 2019 and went on to become one of the best midfielders in England culminating in being the best player for a Villa team that made the Champions League before earning a move to Juventus.

Liam Delap: Early to know if this will go down as a mistake but another local academy product allowed to walk away from the club after not getting chances even when City were down to the bare bones at some points. He’s scored 6 in his first 11 games for Ipswich.

Morgan Rogers: Never made a first team appearance for City as they had him on the never-ending loan roundabout. Finally left permanently for Middlesbrough where he stayed for less than six months before returning to the Premier League and helping Villa get top 4. Now a full England international.

James Trafford: Yet another local player who was never given a shot, in fairness GK is tough to break through. Had a rough first year at PL level as a 20 year old but is now easily the best GK in the Championship and is a full England international. Should be playing PL football again next season.

Romeo Lavia: Allowed to walk away and join Southampton despite winning PL2 Player of the Year that season. Was remarkable for Southampton, wanted by Liverpool and Chelsea and eventually moves to Chelsea. Missed the whole first season through injury but is now part of a very solid duo with Caicedo and has displaced 100m Enzo Fernandez from the team.

Adrian Bernabe: Central midfielder who was pushed into LB during his limited gametime at Man City. Left for Parma on a free transfer where he has become one of the best midfielders in Italy and is a full Spanish international.

Tosin Adarabioyo: Local youth product, dominated the U21 league but was given even a second thought when he was flogged to Fulham. Came back to become Fulham captain and earn a move to Chelsea where has displaced everyone to become the main starting CB in a resurgent Chelsea team. Likely will be a full England international before the end of the season.

Oh look, it’s the Chelsea model!

Honestly had no idea TH-B, Porro, Luiz, Rogers or Tosin had been in the City system… what a list!

You could probably make a decent first XI out of those who’d finish midtable in the PL…

Yeah looks comfortable mid-table to me, maybe even pushing top 6. Can’t tell me there is no one there that couldn’t get into this City team.

That team would probably have won against them yesterday.

What struck me watching the match was all the CBs Pep has decided to put on the field are bereft when there isn’t a good midfield. The concept was to put on all these defensive options so your creative players can be creative. But when Gvordial is effectively playing left wing back, you’ve got serious problems. And Arteta copying this is even worse. These so-called brilliant managers have effectively become a high grade version of Tony Pulis.

When Pep arrived, I had a hard time disliking Man City because they played attractive football and were fun to watch. Now Man City are dull and boring.
