In retrospect last season really set us up for an inevitable car crash. Mo played a lot of bad football last year and forced people to ignore it with goals. That both forced Slot into an even more difficult decision about when to say enough was enough, and reinforced in Mo that no level of bad performances justify dropping him when he thinks he’s shown he’ll still guarantee goals if left on the pitch
…as you allude - here is an article for same :0)
Former Liverpool and Brazil footballer Roberto Firmino is now an evangelical pastor. He and his wife, Larissa Pereira, were ordained in June 2024 at the Manah Church they founded in their hometown of Maceió, Brazil.
Firmino, who still plays professional football for Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, has embraced this new role to share his faith and “spread love”. He became a Christian and was baptized in 2020 by his former Liverpool teammate Alisson Becker.
It’s really hard to see this club turning into a pantomime, just in time for Christmas
oh not it hasn’t
nah, actually it kinda has
I like his personal choices post-football, even if not all reds share the faith aspect. He is community minded and cares very much about the underprivileged community he came from, which is laudable.
In addition to that, Firmino’s humility came out on the pitch, week in week out. He was an excellent player in his own right, but I think in order to make the TEAM better, he was willing to use his skills to serve Salah and Mane, which lifted the team to greater heights.

I think you are right and I also think that the senior people at the club will see this as a huge opportunity to correct that mistake.
Unfortunately had Mo not been given a new contract last season I think there would have been an outcry, and I’ll hold up my hands and say I was delighted to see him sign.
I’ve said a few times now that it’s all good and well to quote the adage that we should let their legs go on someone else’s pitch, but the logical follow through of that is to let their legs go on on someone else’s pitch, you have to actually get rid before their legs actually go.
Salah looks like a really case study in hanging for a six months longer than we should have.
Roberto Firmino is now an evangelical pastor.
How I imagine Pastor Bobby
The Holy Goalie really did the Lord’s work there, didn’t he?
He is community minded and cares very much about the underprivileged community he came from, which is laudable.
In addition to that, Firmino’s humility came out on the pitch, week in week out.
that second sentence is what sets Bobby apart. Both Mo and Sadio have done tremendous amounts of charitable, regenerative work for their communities in Egypt and Senegal. But on the pitch they are both monstrous egos. And only someone with the humility and love for his teammates of Bobby could make it work. This is why Sadio has Bobby’s shirt framed and hanging in his house. He said that he has never met a human being like him ever, let alone a top class footballer.
So they decided recently that they want to get rid.
So we’re to believe they decided a week ago they wanted him out and in the midst of a really poor run of form the best way to do this was to sit him on the bench with zero explanation and it’s taken all of seven days for Mo to come out and pretty much say he’s not coming back after AFCON?
If that was the case then all three of those people need seeing out the door but I highly doubt it is.
To be honest I can’t blame Mo.
The whole squad is underperforming and he’s being used as the scapegoat, not just by the coach but by the fans as well.
People keep bringing up his age even though he was dominating the league just a few months ago, which makes no sense to anyone with even a bit of football knowledge. He deserves better than this.
hi Mo
He hasn’t been dominating in the league for about a year now. He wasn’t the same player in the second half last season and that form has continued into the present.
Get fucking rid.
Most unprofessional interview ive ever seen in my years of supporting this club.
He is not bigger than LFC. He has been dog shit all season and dropped for a reason.
Absolutely fuming hes spoken out like that above the needs of the team.
Selfish, me, me, me prick.
I’ll get hate for that but it aint good enough. We dont see Chiesa giving that response despite being better than all our other forwards.
Salah is a ballon dooooor dickhead. And if we picked up Semenyo, he’d be on a flight to Saudi in no time.
I’ll get hate for that but it aint good enough.
I really don’t think you will.
But we all want Xabi to replace Arne and he can’t handle big players, Vini supposedly???
The coffee is going to taste bitter on Monday morning ![]()
Some more context, because he does go on and not in favour of Salah

Has to go in January (should get a decent fee from Saudi with a good bit left on his deal).
Both parties need a fresh start.
