Surely Hendo’s advice would be, “Not worth it, mate.”
I am certain of the latter. I’m not so certain of the former. I think there was an emotional component to this that considered outcomes, but I think Salah wildly misjudged the likely outcome in part due to his emotional state. I suspect that he truly thought the supporters would rally around him, as they did last season with respect to his media pressure campaign to get the club to extend him, and thought Slot would either cave or get sacked.
So we’ve not become any worse despite the guy we’re paying £400k a week to sitting on the bench for all but 45 minutes of the last four games.
That’s not exactly a good look for someone.
Simple for supporters, the club comes first
And for the club’s sake this needs to be resolved asap. I understand if they’re trying to fix a financial fuck up but (assuming that’s what Mo got wind of and he wants to stay which caused him to blow up) this would be a shitty way to treat any player of the club let alone an all-time legend.
Do find it odd Sky included him on their Xmas advert, considering he was never going play in the games over Xmas.
Interesting tidbit from the pre match presser. Slot and the club have been talking to Salah since the Sunderland game, three days before his strop at the Leeds game.
In today’s ITV local news the announced that Salah is back in the squad for tomorrows game after having had talks with the club and the manager.
Yup. All over Sky Sports and the talking heads are all over it.
Well done Arne and Mo.
Still none the wiser about what REALLY happened.
guess the only way our fans will find out how the meeting went yesterday is if Mo’s in the lineup today
MO after the inclusion news against Brighton :0)
How lucky are we???
We’re getting to live the insanity of a transfer window all year round!!
Yeah but what about that apology? Need a public one…
Considering how we have been since this outburst I do wonder if it was in some odd logic beneficial.
Worst best footballer in the world.
Galvanised the players?
Those corners are worth £10 million alone.
Who knows but there seems a bit less concern and worry in our games. Only period in the Milan game was after we had the goal chalked off.
You couldn’t leave it!
Alternately, let’s just allow our players to publicly undermine the manager, attack the club, act arrogant, and then carry on as if nothing is wrong with any of that.
Without hearing anything from Slot on whatever resolution we have, the issue is still very much open for me.
Salah played well today. If he is willing to respect the manager’s authority to pick the team, then he can still be a good asset for us. He is obviously past peak, but he still has quality. It’s not £400k worth of quality at this point, but good luck to him with his deal. If he stays on those terms, fine, he still has something good to offer as a player.
If he expects special treatment, or if Slot is walking on eggshells waiting for the next Salah explosion if he drops him again, then Salah has to go.
Let’s see what happens. I’m chilled either way, stay or go, but the only thing I would be unhappy about is if he stays and gets special treatment.
