Nathaniel PHILLIPS: 2021/22 (on loan at Bournemouth)

Murphy was one who railed against Rafa and his methods if I’m not mistaken (which I might well be) which hastened his departure.

Was TIA going back then?
TAN obviously wasn’t so no way could Murphy or any one else back then be a TAN LEGEND like Nat Phillips!

Is the new development getting named the Nat Phillips Stand…
Just asking is all… but would get my vote :0)

If we agree to sell Nat it will be because we need the money and/or because the player wants to move.

The replacement(s) would be Ben Davies (Klopp himself said he is still in the settling process) and/or Rhys.

Surely we won’t buy another CB this summer so personally I’d be happy if he stays.

Nat is our limited 5th choice CB. Being english, being injury free, being physically strong, being a good header doesn’t change that. Not much potential left in him but that doesn’t matter. As 5th choice that’s more than we could ever ask for.

On the legend thing…

He saved our asses last season and we should be forecer thankful for that.

But, he is not even on King Klavan legend status.

Carragher is the player with the 2nd most starts for Liverpool all-time.

To keep my post on topic: Phillips is not the player with the 2nd most starts for Liverpool all-time.

Just wait until he scores a penalty with a diving header after the run up…
Got to get him no.1 spot in the legend stakes then eh :0)

I am damn sure there are more posts in this thread for this season than in all the threads Klavan had over his entire LFC career. I say TAN LEGEND! I mean it, stand by it, insist on it …

Only player who could get close is Lucas?

What about Karius? I’m sure he filled up threads faster than any other.

Hmm the notion that being a hotly contested talking point is a positive…

Who? (body problems).

You do your best for Salah, just saying. :stuck_out_tongue:

You can tell it’s the off-season

Phillips is not better than Carra, but there is an air of Carra about him in the most basic of ways - no-nonsense defending, slightly ‘unfashionable’ compared to these ball-playing euro types that are blessed with pace.

Nobody ever compared Flanno to Cafu without their tongue firmly in their cheek. See also Welsh Xavi.

There’s nothing wrong whatsoever in enjoying the footballing success of a young player from the academy being forced into the starting 11 and making a damn good go of it, culminating in his man of the match performance against Burnley.

If you can’t enjoy and appreciate that for everything it is, i’m not even sure why you’re watching football in the first place.

Some people are happy to see him stay (AS 5th CHOICE), some are happy to sell him while his stock is perhaps as high as it will ever be. I don’t think anyone is suggesting he should and could be a long term partner for VVD or that he’s going to be here playing every week for the next 10 years.

Hopefully we will be back pushing for trophies next season and it’s equally believable that he would be happy to stay as a peripheral figure who can perhaps bag a medal that he’ll treasure for ever, as it is that he’d prefer to play every week for Burnley and probably never win anything again in his career. And either would be a valid choice.

I suspect personally that no further work we do in the transfer market this year is relying on selling Nat for £10m but if he does leave there should be nothing else to do than thank him for his efforts and wish him luck for the future.

Wasn’t that BR himself?

7 more to go @cynicaloldgit ! :champagne:

I am hoping if he stays we don’t need to use him in the premier next season.

VVD
Gomez
Matip
Konate
Ben Davies
Nat
Rhys

7 players and I don’t think we need all 7 for our upcoming season. Generally it’s only 5.

Klopp/Edwards may be ruthless and sell/loan Nat/Rhys. But that doesn’t take away what they contributed last season.

Imho, the correct word is not Legend. But cult heroes.

And personally I think we should sell/loan Nat/Rhys. That will give them more game time and will contribute to their further development. Rather than keeping them here as 5/6/7 th choice player who plays the rare cup games.

I definitely would not prioritize the elusive Davies over Rhys or Nat.
