Nathaniel PHILLIPS: 2021/22 (on loan at Bournemouth)

I somehow missed that Nat got a deal in the end. I saw lots of debates about what a deal might look like, but not confirmation anywhere that one had been reached then all of a sudden I see him wearing a Bourmouth shirt. I assume this is a loan?

Yes.

Did we get some cash? Presume it’s 100% wages too? Hopefully we can get a decent price in July. Still not sure why a premier league side wasn’t prepared to pay 10m for him.

1.5 million upfront and 250k if they get promoted. Usually fine clubs around 500k if they don’t play most games going from previous loans out.

Hadn’t had a great start looking at their fam forums and highlights

I have not watched one single minute of him at Bournemouth but I’ve read similar, that he hasn’t been good and is struggling.

He has played just three games. It’s natural if he struggles a bit in the beginning.

It’s Bournemouth, They probably have never seen what a class defender looks like

30 Million and he’s theirs. Ake got sold for 40M , Maguire got sold for 85M , Ben White for a little over 60M.

He’s English, has experience in playing in champions league for a top club and is a dedicated player.

Seems appropriate price compared to those listed

If Gomez goes for regular football , I wouldn’t mind him as the 4th choice CB and let the likes of Rhys Williams get more loan time.

Slabby Maguire makes atleast 3-4 mistakes a match. I will be hard-pressed to find Nat making more than 6 mistakes the second half of the last season.

Ake and Ben White are much better than Phillips.

Just because Maguire is shite doesn’t mean we’re getting 30 million for him.

We’d be fucking crazy to let JoGo leave and keep Phillips.

This is in case gomez pushes for a move. Hes too good a defender to be #4 in the pecking order for liverpool where for any other team(bar city) he would be starting injury permitting and would be the #1 defender for england

This is what I have a problem with. I think even if he were starting regularly and dominating teams, it wouldn’t matter. Look at Alexander-Arnold’s situation. Southgate is just a terrible manager.

How difficult can it be to select the back 4 for england. The only real decision is who is going to be LB.

Trent gomez stones probably pick themselves easily. And southgate persists with maguire
