Next Liverpool Head Coach

I’m not must have been a trend at the time.

I’m sure Jurgen said similar things about the way players in his sides were trusted to make adjustments themselves during games

i suppose what he was trying to say was if hes a bit ungainly with the press then its not a major issue

if hes not Klopp, then thats fine, hes just gotta be himself, just be genuine

so long as hes not Rodgers.

theres good
theres OK

then theres Brent like sycophantic rubbish which is condescending and far from clever

ultimately i think the key is to remain as close to the person you are in nature as possible.

i never really hated up on Slots press conferences, as the position got untenable through the football, then some criticism did come, but it was ONLY due to the performances that the avalanche started(which is strcitly what the poster was saying is the only thing hed care about)

having said that, yes, a media savvy manager really is a bonus to himself and the club, but theres only so long a funny, warm press conference can hide performances.

What I’m looking forward to is this: as soon as everyone has grasped the new system, we will finally have a distinct identity and style again—regardless of who is out on the pitch. As we saw under Jürgen, you can then field just about anyone—even youth players—and it remains instantly recognizable that it is a Liverpool team playing.

We’ve reached that point before, where every youth team played with the exact same style as the first team, and so on. I’ve missed that, and I’m very excited to see how everything unfolds. Of course, it will take some time before we achieve that level of consistency again, but I’m truly looking forward to it.

We are about to embark on a new journey—complete with everything that entails, the highs and the lows—and hopefully, we’ll do it all together again, without anyone being left out or constantly favored over others. You know what I mean.

What would we do without Carragher educating us on everything eh…

That can improve individual ball technique he was a master at that.

I’m glad I started this mini debate and we will agree to disagree.

A lot seemed to care about Slots skill. Millions around the world will be hanging off every word Iraola says in the next few days and this renamed thread will be a frenzy of judgement and opinions. A lot will care. Hope he is calm, positive, articulate and provides hope. Just don’t use the word character.

It is minor, but this ‘3 games a week’ nonsense is becoming a pet peeve. Nobody plays 3 games a week. Very rarely, 3 games fall in one calendar week if you happen to start your count from Sunday, but that means the week before or after has no more than one. The pace is 2 games per week. Yes, that is a challenge. But you don’t add any credibility to your view by exaggerating the tempo of the challenge.

Two year deal, huh? Seems like a very short agreement to reach. He gets a year to sink or swim, and if he fails, we go after Enrique.

For anyone that wants to listen to the full 15mins worth of Carragher spewing his contradictory bullshit… you are a braver person than me… Anyone wanting to listen to just his take on Iraola, apparently it is between 3:0mins and 4:0mins…

detailed analysis on Iraola’s staff, copied out of that thread

Iraola’s Bournemouth staff he wants to bring:

Pablo de la Torre – Spanish fitness/conditioning coach. Long-time collaborator from Rayo Vallecano. Handles physical prep for Iraola’s high-intensity pressing game. Vital for maintaining energy levels across a tougher schedule.

Tommy Elphick – Assistant manager. Former Bournemouth captain & centre-back. Strong on player management, defensive organisation & leadership. Iraola has called him “more than ready” to manage. Turned down Bristol City job to stay with him.

Shaun Cooper – Assistant/first-team coach. Ex-Bournemouth player who rose through academy. Specialises in set-pieces (credited for key goals vs Arsenal etc.). Tactical detail & club knowledge.

Tom Webber – First-team out-of-possession analyst. Focuses on pressing, defensive shape & transitions. Previously at Leicester & Bristol City. Adds data/video insight to support the system.

Overall take: A tight, proven unit that helped Bournemouth hit record points & reach Europe. Brings instant cohesion, PL experience + set-piece edge. Good blend of Spanish methodology (Iraola + de la Torre) with English coaches. Quick implementation at Liverpool, though scaling to title-level expectations will be the real test. Smart continuity move.
