And even that (Trent’s supposed foul on Calvert-Lewin in the Derby) was never a penalty.
Has done well. Forming a good understanding with Nat. Having Fab in front helps.
He is right footed playing on the left. One thing which I hope he coaches train him out of is the time taken to switch the ball from his left to his right foot.
In the Arse game, he took an absolute age (in relative terms) to do this.
I started laughing when Klopp took off Kabak and Williams came on, Nat and Rhys as centre backs at the Emirates and Liverpool 0-3 up.
Kabak and Phillips are definitely doing well but the opposition threat has been next to non existent in the games they’ve started together.
We’ll be in a better position to judge after the next 6 games - Madrid twice, Villa, Leeds and United in there. If they still look good after those, all credit to them.
Arsenal are amongst a host of clubs that have spoken to Kabaks agent while he’s been on loan and have been told that LFC will make the signing permanent and to not bother.
I hope he seals his place over the next 13 games. I will actually be sad to see him go.
Yeah tbh I wasn’t sure about 5 games in but he has really settled in now. Hopefully in a more organised season with Virgil and Joe back and a proper midfield back to its shape like last season he will kick on even more.
For me the jury is still out, and I’m just not ready to commit. That is not a critique, it’s just observational. He’s for certain playing better than when he arrived, and I’m thrilled to see he’s toned down his attitude. He seems to understand the opportunity he currently has and I saw the quotes from the weekend, he was expressing what an honor it is to play for LFC and how happy he is to be here.
But I also completely agree with @ILLOK, in that this positive streak has been pretty much all situational football. That CB pairing just hasn’t really been tested as a result of how matches have unfolded. We will know more over then next 10 matches. Whether he’s signed or not I’d still like the club to sign one more CB.
If we can sign Botman and Caleta Car this summer, then don’t bother signing Kabak.
That wasn’t good today, especially almost the whole first half. Quietly had a shocker, far from everything, some really dangerous passses, wrong calculations.
He improved from those first terrible 5 minutes but it wasn’t good at all, yeah.
He’s had a few good games (Wolves, Madrid) but I wouldn’t be paying 18 million for him based on what we’ve seen so far.
The bar is lower for Phillips because he’s already here, cost nothing and basically we have no other choice. Chances are he won’t be here next season anyway.
This guy is in the shop window and we’re thinking of spending actual money on him so it’s not enough for him just to put himself about like Phillips does. He’s got to show he has at least the potential to challenge Matip and Gomez (assuming they are fit) for a first team place. Phillips has a USP in that he gives us a genuine aerial presence. This lad has looked competent at best but I’m not seeing any stand out features in his game. Jury out still for me.
I would not pay 20m for him this summer
They only asking 18m.
I would. I think he’s been great. He’s 20 years old, and he’s been pulled in to fix an ailing defence for the champions.
He’s 21 yrs old.
The money should be spent on Botman or Caleta Car, who are actually potential.
So is Botman
Is Botman better?
How do we conclude that those two are better. Yeah, they may look awesome in French League, but that’s not Premier League.
