Ahhh okay. I hadn’t heard.

A mate of mine is representing Newcastle at the hearing. I think I might get the lowdown from him in a more condensed form. I was listening to it through headphones as I was doing some other work and it was fucking dull, even I gave up after an hour or so!

Half of it kept going private because the PL were being dicks. Both SJHL and Newcastle United wanted everything to be in public and were happy to waive the confidentiality requirement that would normally apply to arbitrated disputes under the PL rules (ie, the separate process between the parties). Unfortunately, the Tribunal respected the PL’s request for certain parts to remain confidential so there were some bits that were not discussed publicly.

Seems to me to run counter to the public interest requirement trumping the need for confidentiality, particularly where the 2 parties challenging the PL’s jurisdiction were willing to waive the confidentiality that would otherwise apply to the PL’s arbitration procedures. The PL’s reluctance to waive confidentiality is a bad look. Whether it intended to or not it leaves the impression that it was artificially hiding behind the veil provided by confidentiality to avoid being exposed to public criticism.

I think the outcome is likely to be that the PL cannot be the arbitrator of who can or cannot buy PL clubs. It is an abuse of a dominant position.

I might be totally wrong, but would the P/L not need all of the clubs to agree for them to waive confidentiality?

It might all be well and good for SJH and Newcastle to waive it, but by lifting confidentiality would mean any clubs objecting to the change in ownership would then be public knowledge which they many not all agree to

Feel awful for Xhaka. Suffered extensive damage to his knee when Lucas Moura rolled into him and will be out 3 months. Hate seeing any player seriously injured but especially when it was a freak occurrence.

When I saw Moura full body weight landed on Xhaka, I knew that was going to be bad… At that moment, only wished that his right leg wasn’t fully planted… But his focus was on the attacker and couldn’t avoid to lessen the impact.

No. We’re not talking about getting rid of the confidentiality that applies to all arbitrations under Rule K. Just waiving confidentiality for this specific arbitration.

It was something that was known would come up so likely that Adam Lewis QC would have been empowered to make that decision on behalf of the PL, if advised.

If I remember correctly the state of which the ownership group where leaders of (yeah a joke in itself) had basically shown PL without paying for it?

Which means they probably didn’t have any grounds within their own rules though they probably should have considering what shits they are. Can’t upset Man City mind.

I’m not saying that full lifting of confidentiality would need to be lifted, but full confidentiality for this particular case would need to be lifted, which some clubs may not have agreed to, ie 12 clubs might have objected to the Saudis buying Newcastle, but only 6 have made their objections known as the other 6 might fear that it could cause a breakdown in relationship with Newcastle which could lead to future issues for loans and transfers.

So wouldn’t the P/L need all of the clubs to agree to lifting this cases’ confidentiality restrictions?

Newcastle are already aware of the confidential material, they were there!

Newcastle’s defence rests… usually for ninety minutes every Saturday afternoon.

If i was the club I think i’d just take the Watford game as a hit and then have them back the 5 days afterwards.

Though I do wonder at this point whether some players will effectively say no.

Let’s see what happens today.

On early kick off it’s scum vs scum when ManU host Everton. A draw would be great but i would secretly enjoy an away win :zipper_mouth_face:

Chelsea very likely to go back to winning ways as they are playing Southampton at home. Although the last 3 results between them were 1:1, 3:3 and 0:2.

At 5:30 we have this seasons surprise team Brighton hosting Arsenal.

In other leagues we have

  • Dortmund without Haaland, Dahoud and Reyna vs Augsburg

  • the Turin derby in Italy.

  • Atlético hosting Barca in which could be Koemans last game.

It’s a shame both can’t lose, as I can never shout for either. I suppose a draw is the best result for us, but living in Liverpool, I won’t be upset if Everton get hammered.

A victory for the bitters takes them top of the table or a victory for the mancs takes them top so hoping for a draw.

Given Neverton won’t challenge us, I’d be happy with a rafa masterclass today and the blues gettkng all 3 points.
