He’s allowed to stand there. You’re never going to get fouls for that without the attacker putting hands in the goalie
EDIT: "ON’ the goalie. Putting hands in the goalie is quite clearly a foul.

Or just a fun Tuesday night between close friends
But did he not therefore foul the keeper in the buildup. Hes not made any attempt for the ball? Not sure of the rules of jostling with keepers, but they usually get more protection.
I dont disagree with you, just playing devils advocate.
Truthfully, i can imagine this kind of thing going the otherway in other games…the consistency of reffing is atrocious…compounded by the big calls seemingly going City’s way time and time again.
As i posted earlier…i categorise it as the dark arts stuff.
Of course he’s allowed to stand anywhere he likes. That’s not the issue.
The issue is what impact standing in an offsides position has on the play. Does it give him an unfair advantage? Does he unfairly impact the play?
The sad part is that the refs did not even consider this…
This is what they said as reported by skysports:
The PGMOL have confirmed that the on-field decision was to DISALLOW Manchester City’s winner and that VAR argued against the on-field ruling.
Critically, the referee appears to have only adjudged whether Silva was interfering in the eyeline of Sa rather than impeding his ability to collect the cross.
I think for the impression of there being inconsistency you would be hard pressed to find many examples of goals being disallowed for that sort of contact on the goalie. If the contact comes with the goalie jumping its going to be given. If the attacked puts their hand on the goalie it is likely going to get given. But that is not what happened here
He wasnt in an offside position until Stones headed the ball. All the things you have complained about where when the ball was not yet in play or when he was onside from the initial corner
The ball was already in flight when he pushes against the GK, and from an offsides position
Talk yourself through how an attacker can be offside from the corner kick and then reconsider how you are thinking about this.
You can’t be offside from a corner kick…
Of course I know that. I’m referring to him being behind the line of play
Anyone couldve predicted that the Cheats would score in the 90 odd minute…
Wolves had a goal disallowed this season against West ham…similar situation…albeit different too.

As for Silvas contact…no hands but enough to impact the keeper…and prob enough there to go the other way too…as per the rule on offsides…

I’m referring to him being behind the line of play. Should’ve used offsides in quote.
But my point is about interference in the overall sequence of play
Those were for offside for being in the line of sight. You were arguing for his contact being a foul so these are not comparable.
As for the offside, the interpretation is, IMO, unreasonably strict. If you look where Bernardo was by the time Stones headed it, he was a long way outside of the line of sight of the goalie
But not offside. If you want to find an argument for this being disallowed you have to either conclude
when Stones heads it Silva is blocking the goalie’s view, and that is interpreted strictly requiring you to draw a straight line between the ball and the goalie and have the player stood in that line. He wasnt.
without consideration for offside, that Silva was fouling the goalie. You will struggle to find examples of what Silva was doing being given as a foul.
