Premier League 2024/25 (Part 1)

Nobody believe his nasally delivered bullshit and he never takes the blame for a bad result.
I think a few good results the past 2 years makes him think he is the best manager going and in this game you have to stay humble at all times otherwise it comes back to bite you where it hurts. He is 9 points behind us but still thinks that he can easily catch up the only one who can make that claim is fraudiola.

Still I fully expect Arsenal back in a title race and think they will start a winning run after the break.

They have all their important players back and managed to avoid international football for some of them.

At least for now it looks like they have to play the CL playoffs which would really hurt them.

Yeah, it would be good if they played the play-offs but I think that their form will pick up once Odegaard is fully recovered. They already looked better with him in the side against Chelsea and theyā€™ve already played away to Man City, Chelsea and Aston Villa (and also Brighton and Totteham, I think), which puts them in an excellent position to challenge for the league title in the second half of the season.

Cityā€™s abysmal showing in 19-20 where they capitulated early and then largely gave up, was solely put down to it being an understandable outcome given they had lost Laporteā€¦a player whose singular importance is put in context by the fact that after he recovered he never regained his place in the side as a regular before being sold off to one of the desert leagues.

Deeper in the money they have spent perhaps, but not in quality. We have the best no 2 goalkeeper, and selection headaches up front even when Jota is injured.

We could struggle if we got an injury or 2 in midfield but hopefully that will be rectified soon

I think it was demonstrated in the last couple of seasons, not necessarily this season, that actually in terms of numbers we had the advantage. We just had so many more injuries than the rest.

And no 3.

Sane and Laporte doing their ACLs so early on played a massive hand in us winning the league - itā€™s a hill I will die on. They were both extremely important to them for different reasons.

Were they more important to them then than Rodri is now? Thatā€™s a better question, I guess. Guy is unplayable, unfortunately, the best in the world in his position and he has so many tricks up his locker that they were bound to miss him.

Their youth products are extremely talented, though, so my heart breaks for Guardiola having to back up the worldā€™s most expensive squad with some of the best young players in the world (which he, admittedly, couldnā€™t do in 2019/20).

You beat me to it. We also sold No 4 and 5.

His main trick is being granted the same immunity that was afforded to his predecessor.

Rodri is unquestionably a fantastic player, but heā€™d be sent off every week if he played for us.

I think itā€™s more that he didnā€™t do it. He doesnā€™t play youth team players until he absolutely has no choice to, does he?

Mateus Nunes got away with fouling at crucial times and not a single yellow card for him against Brighton.

I donā€™t like the overemphasis on injuries, just because it is Arsenal and Man City. Weā€™ve had plenty of injuries in the past, and even now, we are without our first choice goalie and first choice striker - the latter based on the managerā€™s picks until Jota was injured.

We have also been without Elliott - a very useful attacking midfielder who would have been rotated in, and Chiesa, our back up winger, hasnā€™t got going yet due to injury. And now we are waiting to see the extent of Trentā€™s injury.

So at least two definites and at least two back ups, but we just get on with it.

Yeah, how else does he justify having 50+ million players on his bench? Lewis would have been a regular in any other PL side, for example.

Maybe wining the league so early but it wouldnā€™t have had any bearing on us winning it. We went on an absolute tear that season.

Yeah, Iā€™m not taking one bit from that team but City would have been much closer with those two fully fit. Saneā€™s consistent output of match-winning goals and assists cost us the league in the previous season (if weā€™re to overlook blatant refereeing errors).

Iā€™d love Arne, in his next press conference, to say that he has always been a fan of the Premier League, and that he always likes to learn from the best, and that Ferguson was the best manager in Premier League history.

When was Sane ever important to Man City? Always a player who flattered to deceive.
