Lucky it didnt come to anything as it was a ridiculous decision. Torres took a touch to control the rebound and was about to clear it when Martinez dived on the ball nicking it from his foot. To consider that a deliberate pass back was absurd.
Look, it’s just top class coaching. Amorim explained to him where the penalty area was and he was supposed to actually spend some time in it, and hey presto…
Commentators just pointing out that 4 of Everton’s next 5 are against teams in the top 5. If they don’t get 3 points against Wolves, they could easily be in the relegation zone by the end of December
I would assume they would be over the moon with 4th and ok with any placement that gives European cup competition. I would assume so, because I would be if I were them.
I think it’s more fun with Everton in the top league, so we can play them and there can be a healthy rivalry. Others wants them relegated, but I think that would be rather sad for Liverpool as a football city.
This is a really jarring collapse by Everton. For about 30 minutes, they looked like they could get something from this game. Once they conceded, they just went into a tailspin. ManU hasn’t scored more than 3 in a PL game this season, now friggin’ Zirkzee is hunting down a hat-trick.
edit - wow, only Southampton has a worse goal difference
When i was a kid, I remember that Liverpool was famous for it’s quite friendly rivalry between Liverpool fans and Everton fans. I get told by everyone that this is absolutely not the case today, but I think it extraordinary unlikely that this is the fault of Everton fans alone. I doubt there is something in their blood, or the water that only Everton fans get and Liverpool fans don’t.
I think the hate between Liverpool fans and Everton fans is rather sad and distasteful, like a balkan ethnic conflict and it’s an aspect of fandom that I don’t like in any sport.
Banter is cool, true loathing and hate is not. My opinion, though.
Red card for Fulham’s Cairney, to much protest. Spurs player brought down by studs raking down his calf, I am not sure what the protest could really be about. Pundits saying VAR should not have intervened, but they had a much better view of the tackle than the ref did
In this match, it really is. ManU was on the back foot for at least 25 minutes of the first half, and looked like they were in for a tough fight. After the first goal, Everton just stopped playing. Really raises questions about Dyche.
You were told this during a period when Everton were still in touching distance of their rich history of being one of England’s best clubs. They have been fucking shite for the best part of 30 years now though. Outside of 2-3 seasons where they were pushing for the heady heights of a European spot, all that is left for them is to hope Liverpool lose. The balance has changed and so has the dynamic.
