Premier League 2024/25 (Part 2)

You are right but you would have also been right saying this exactly six years ago and exactly three years ago. I’m not getting over that ever and those two title races will always linger in my mind, hence this uneasy feeling.

Problem with all this is City had to be perfect.

I’m not seeing an Arsenal team that can do that. In fact there is only one team who has shown that they can match that and that’s us.

14 games left

2018-19 - 11 wins 3 draws
2019-20 - 9 wins 3 losses 2 draws
2020-21 - 9 wins 3 Losses 2 draws
2021-22 - 12 wins 2 Draws
2022-23 - 8 wins 4 losses 2 draws
2023-24 - 8 wins 4 Losses 2 draws

There are some very ropey seasons in that lot and yet the worse would take us to 83pts.

Win our next four games and then, perhaps. At this stage we need to get more results first.

But we’ve shown that over the previous seasons Arsenal haven’t.

I am far from convinced that the title is won but there is a fair bit of rewriting of history on here at times.

I went on one of their forums the other day to gauge how they felt about Havertz’s injury, they were talking about the season being over, being in a battle for top 4 and generally slagging the club off for not signing anyone in January.
They are no different.

One at Anfield, two on the road, then the final seven of 11 at Anfield.

5-6 points over the three matches is fine.

Title is not won. But we will lose it only if we collapse.

Arsenal have shown nothing thus far that they’re capable of winning 10 of their next 14.

They have to go 10-2-2 to get to 82. We need to go 7-5-2 to get to 83.

Yup, but those ropey ends of seasons were the last one, and the one before that. 83 points are not enough to win the league.

It’s still far too early for counting chickens. Beating Wolves should be our only concern right now.

I wouldn’t be so sure.

Arsenal would have to match what they did last season to get 87.

And that was with zero injuries and a league less as volatile as this one is.

You are right though it’s one game at a time.

Yeah, I agree.

Arsenal are only marginally above 2 points per game up until now. If they just keep pace with that for their remaining 14 games they’ll finish on 79-80 points. Does anyone think they’re really going to get meaningfully better over the next couple of months?

Some people on this forum think they’ll win every game.

In which case, Liverpool needs to win 12.

Oh come on, don’t be so hard on yourself, I’m sure you think this only of United…

The strongest side Arsenal can pick tomorrow has 24 league goals with Trossard top scorer with 4.

That’s an incredible goal from Mitoma. Right out the top drawer.

That could be goal of the year. He showed the highest level of skill with the first touch on the run and then the second touch turn and finish was outstanding.

The goal they just disallowed for a shove was way less of a shove than the one on Konate but the Brighton player had enough sense to fall down. Hate it but we need to start acting liking other teams do, rolling around, hitting the ground etc. We’ll probably get done for simulation but we’re already not on a level playing field so we have to try something.

2-0 now

Followed up by a lovely team goal.
