I couldnāt help thinking that these were two sides that Liverpool lost to in this calendar year. For that alone, I canāt quite be over the moon with this result.
On the other hand, however, I donāt want to be too negative and ungrateful for what they are serving up. This was one of the worst matches Iāve seen in my life from every point of view - aside from the end result and the comedic value of goals that Man United conceded - but Iāll never, ever take it for granted, having grown up while their fans were dishing out ānot arrogant, just betterā banter to my Liverpool-supporting friends and me.
The moment with Onana and long kick at the half-way lineā¦ Thatās just cinematic poetry, the essence of comedy in football. Thatās part Mel Brooks, part Leslie Nielsen, part Jim Jarmusch. I canāt believe that I saw that transpire, especially with the added bonus of Mazraoui and England mirroring each otherās posture while arguing over that free kick. It was even better than the second and the third goal combined. I know it wonāt last forever but Iāll enjoy it while I can.
