Reckon that’s the stool for the promo?

Great goal. Should have stood.

Yeah, that’s a cool, composed finish. Very natural, considering that it wasn’t easy to hit the other side of the goal so accurately, from that distance and angle. Gakpo’s pass beforehand is very good as well. We won 3 nil but it should definitely have been four.

It’s alright, I would expect even from someone like Ngumoha with time and space to settle before the shot to score like he did. It was funny seeing Gakpo cutting inside even when he got shifted to the right wing.

:joy:

Pfff… you aren’t easily pleased, mate…

I like that we’re also using him on the right here and there. He’s a 17-year old kid and shouldn’t be only playing off the left all the time. Gives him a different perspective, how to attack, allows him to make some simpler moves without overdoing things, etc. Good for him and good for us.

Worth considering him as someone to bring on now for 10-20 minutes most games regardless especially if Gakpo and Salah continue to play poorly.

If Salah is off you won’t get this chance again.

Honestly, this is bullshit.

Yep.
Yamal would be still on the bench for Barca if that was the case

And Yamal is already one of the world’s best players who took very little to make massive steps, both for club and country.

Very rare.

Who also is suffering from a condition Related to overuse that has people very concerned about the impact that is going to have on his career

Yeah, that is a little worry.

Yamal is abnormal . The concern about fitness issues is real, but given our terrible winger situation now, it’s time to take a risk with Rio.

quite happy for us to take our time with Rio and not rush him

we have a duty of care towards him and want him to have as long as career as possible,

look how Sterling has turned out after been over played in his youth,
only 31 and done nothing the last 4 years since leaving City

I think Sterling’s career has been totally fine, he’s had a lot of years at a high level. So not the best example. Obviously it’s impossible to look to far into the future and say “let’s think about when player X is in his early 30’s”. Even Rooney by the style of player he was should’ve lasted longer than he did, but obviously didn’t.

It is more of a credit to Slot than a criticism if he is holding off from overplaying a youngster over protecting his job.

Giving Rio 2 days a week off the pitch from training shows that this isn’t just a matter of favourites. He is serious about not overburdening him.

but he was done at the age of 28 when he signed for Chelsea

since signing for Chelsea in 2022, he only made 78 appearances for Chelsea, Arsenal and now Feyenoord

He’s still got like 500+ games at top level. He started earlier, finished faster, but same window range.

Age is a factor, but more important is growth status. I believe injury when they’re not fully grown might affect them more in future. In Sterling’s case, I think he stopped growing very early, same with Rooney , he looked like 40 years old man in his debut.
