I’m not advocating this at all. This aggression war must be denounced, and seeing the unity among European countries (bar a few exceptions, ie. Hungary) is comforting. It’s just the question of being smart enough if we want Russian people to turn against their government on this issue, rather than them falling back into a standard cold war confrontational view, which is obviously Putin’s goal.
In that sense, the messages directly addressed by the Ukrainians towards the Russians are smart. A very intelligent way of conducting psychological warfare. Maybe the EU could take a leaf from it, and address messages to the Russian population, something like ‘Your government must stop that stupid, expensive, deadly, unnecessary aggression war against Ukraine. Please help us to achieve this by passing the message to them.’ Or something like that.
But if mud really wasn’t a problem then I wouldn’t expect Russia to be relying completely on the exposed roads and I wouldn’t expect to see so many vehicles bogged in the mud when they do venture off road. As in my graph above, Kyiv is usually well below zero from late November/early December through to March and this year hasn’t exactly followed the historic data with clearly some very warm days for this time of year. The latest sat images showing barely frozen over dams kind of backs up just how warm it is.
IMO the lack of frozen terrain hasn’t helped Russia. The article above mentioned how everyone thought missiles and air would be Modus Operandi at least initially so I’m not suggesting Russia have attacked smart and just got unlucky, but I am still shaking my head when I am seeing the several mile long columns just sitting there asking to be drone attacked. It doesn’t make a lot of sense.
Lavrov addressing the UN now. He’s describing exactly some of the things happening in Russia except saying it’s happening the Ukraine and all sorts of bullshit.
How the fuck can a rational, intelligent human being spout such nonsense knowing that it is a complete fabrication with a completely straight face. I’d like to get in a room alone with him and ask him, politely.
Very, very strong words from Roberta Metsola. Regardless of how the invasion pans out, we will be living a new world with a line between East and West that is very much like the old one.
Zelensky talking now. Have to say, what a man. He could have left like we have seen other leaders leave before and their forces melt away and it’s likely his armed forces would have lost heart and morale had he done so and Russia would have walked over and this would be a footnote in history. He’s judged the situation perfectly and pretty much united a diverse number of nations in a way that could scarcely have been imagined two weeks ago, hell, even one week ago and pretty much the entire world is willing the Ukrainians on.
Sorry for some reason I can’t link stuff (been a bloody nightmare this last week) but what a twat Boris is , that journalist basically having a go at him, and his face whilst she speaks , to me speaks volumes , complete charlatan just pretending to be a statesman …seriously Britain is fucked with this moron in chare of what could be the most dangerous moment since ww2…and if the worse follows with him in charge I don’t hold much hope
Edit sorry dont know why it replied to Kopstar:joy:
