Russian War Crimes (Part 1)

I’m sure the Ukrainians would be willing to use them all on Russian aircraft over the next few weeks.

Sergei Lavrov has told the media in Turkey, he does not believe the conflict will trigger a nuclear war. Is this the same Sergei Lavrov who insisted Russia had no intention of invading Ukraine? Prepare to kiss your arse goodbye everyone.

Exactly.

I really don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing given that Schroeder has been refusing to cut his ties with Russia all along. In the meantime, he has been asked several times by the SPD to distance himself and there is even talk of exclusion.

I just filled up and it was $4.25 a gallon. One comedian quipped, “You can still get gas at Taco Bell for $1.39!” Ba dum, tish.

A small price to pay in the grand scheme of things. And I completely agree that if this accelerates the move to renewable energy, it will be a silver lining.

My take on that is that in a situation with communication channels rapidly closing off, having someone talk to Putin might not be a bad thing. I have no hope that it will be productive, but I’m not sure how it will be bad (unless he has his fingers in a lot of illicit Russian money and it is a self serving thing).

The US still nowhere near what we in the UK have been paying for fuel for decades. Our current costs (c.£1.60 per litre) would equate to $7.99/gallon and rising.

I intentionally left it at ‘highest it’s ever been’ :joy:

Shhhh…Don’t tell us that we still have it good, the people are angry!!

For real though, people on social media that I know (mostly of the Republican party persuasion) are spouting shit about Biden breaking the country as if this is all his fault. It’s really awful.

The Russian claim is completely hypocritical, but to be fair, in the wrong hands, it could lead to disastrous consequences. What happens if you indiscriminately load a country at war with weapons? It can lead to civil airplanes being taken down eventually, or have other horrible consequences. I don’t dare thinking about what will happen if mercenaries invest Ukraine (or God forbid, terrorist groups) and start taking up and using all these weapons as they wish…

Yeah, renewable energies will hopefully get a significant push in the middle term. But until then…

Of course similar claims could be made about all the Russian hardware that’s being abandoned all over Ukraine for just anyone (hey look a farmer with a tractor) to walk off with.

Side effect of starting a war is weapons get lost - and innocent people are murdered by the dozens.

Yes, the Russian insinuation is insincere concern but there is a risk that arms fall into the hands of very unsavoury groups. After the war, how does Ukraine go about disarming all the people its freely armed to help in the current resistance?

But that’s a question for later.

From what’s been going on it’s more likely they, like the farmers, end up with Russian armaments. Which just makes what is being said completely stupid.
Anyway allsorts can be bought in the great US of A and hence stolen.
I think it’s callerd taking the piss and worrying about when terrorists and the such like seem to get hold of allsorts anyway is a waste of time.

Ukranian farmers run amok!

Yes - they are the real villains here why don’t more people see that!!!

Schroeder is probably one of the last guys in Western Europe who has potentially Putin’s ear. Whatever one thinks about his political preferences, he can be extremely useful at this moment in time. Unless everyone’s final goal is to allow this folly to unfold further, I wouldn’t ostracize him at this moment in time, but on the contrary, use him.

I don’t think Putin can hear anything at the other end of those long tables. However your correct better some talk than none at all even if I feel a good spanking would be much more influencial.
