Kadyrov is like the villain from Kite Runner. Just vile
When the shooting stops it will be interesting to see just how long Russians are going to put up with living in a country that will soon resemble North Korea.
No independent media , no right of free speech , no dissent , no travel abroard , crippling sanctions and international pariah status. Is that a price they will be willing to go on paying in support of Putin’s revanchist fantasy ?
It’s been like that almost uninterrupted since 1917.
Do the majority know any different? Is the majority institutionalised to such an extent that actively moving away from the status quo is not even entertained?
Any ideas about what’s on the agenda in peace talks?
" Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday that some formulations for agreements with [Ukraine] were close to being agreed, with neutral status for Kyiv under “serious” consideration.
However, he told the RBC news outlet that there were other issues of importance too, including the usage of the Russian language in Ukraine and freedom of speech, Reuters reported."
Presumably they get to keep Crimea and annex Donetsk and Luhansk too.
They’ve had 30 years of ‘democracy’ and improved living standards. Are they really willing to surrender all that without a murmur ?
Treaty level agreement that Ukraine will never join NATO or EU and some sort of tie/tech sharing with Russian armed forces to ensure they don’t receive more western arms. Donetsk and Luhansk ‘independence’ under Russian control with Crimea potentially annexed to Russia. Ukraine accepting Russian oil/gas and paying via bread/grain/further integration for Russian firms to supply materials to rebuild. Zelenskyy to resign. Ukraine to provide Putin with a new giant round table for meetings.
Is it not a democracy in name only? A fake democracy if you like.
That’s what sealed the deal.
Well they were on the road to a western style democracy until Putin succumbed to his inner tyrant. What gets me is how they allowed him to do what he has been doing for the past so many years. Surely they could see this wasn’t going to end well for them.

You have to have made that last bit up
