I think there was and is a good deal of excess in the optimism, but when he wrote that the scope of Russian logistical failure was not yet evident. Very few of the material observations of the past 16 days are in favour of his ‘it was plan B’ hypothesis, and I think on March 2 he did not anticipate the scale of direct aid to Ukraine, nor the severity of the sanctions that developed led by Europe. One of the strangest bifurcations of this is that the Americans were hawks leading up to this, dismissed almost out of hand by the big EU players, and that has seemingly reversed. Both of those facts probably due to how close the problem is.

I agree. I am just cautious and Roggio is a fairly solid guy I have read a lot. On the other hand, Norwegian generals and other generals from other states, claim the opposite of what Roggio is claiming. Still worth reading Roggio though in general. Always worth reading “the other side”.
