China
Not sure if it’s already been posted, so many false flag claims atm
Disgusting
Sanctions send a strong message to China.
You can bet Xi is thinking twice about Taiwan having seen the sanctions. The unforeseen circumstance of this war might be further push towards more localised manufacturing.
Disrupted supply chains with Covid, plus risk of China going to war in Taiwan are concerns especially to multinationals. It’s not a bad thing at all. Just as Europe needs to wean its self if Russian oil. The world needs to wean itself off using cheap Chinese labour.
The same argument was being made here; over the past thirty years a thriving local textile manufacturing infrastructure that was established and providing locally made goods (granted, previous sanctions made that a necessity) has been eroded away to virtually nothing as cheap imported goods trumped paying workers a decent wage, dealing with labour unions etc etc and now that shift and reliance is coming home to roost with gutted and empty factories littering countless small and dying towns and rising costs anyway.
Always seem to a precipice that forces change so it may very well be the one we’re on now that forces everyone to realise that we have actually created a worldwide supply chain that is so interlinked and dependent on so many factors at play, from harvesting of resources to transport to manufacture and then on to distributor and finally to the end user, that it has become so fragile and open to parties taking advantage that it can simply take one event to make the whole thing collapse like a jenga tower.
It’s not like people haven’t been warning of just this scenario.
Many politicians and activists, mostly in Green parties and movements, have long warned that we have to find local sources of food and energy, but they have mostly been ignored or ridiculed.
