If the number of KIA and WIA is correct, that is a startling ratio of killed to wounded. One would conventionally expect to see 3 or even 4 to 1 wounded for every fatality.

Yes, it is massive. Absolutely massive. Someone working in that paper is going to be having a bad day tomorrow in Russia (probably already have). Also, MIA, there are bound to be MIA not counted. Besides, this number is probably a couple of days old already (though this is speculation). May well be a few hundred more. At least.

My first thought is the same disastrous logistics set up that is failing to get food and fuel forward 90km is failing to get wounded soldiers back 90km to effective care.
