Russian War Crimes (Part 1)

Suggestions following the meetings today that were Russia to use chemical or biological weapons in Ukraine that NATO would still not directly intervene militarily.

Errrā€¦

ā€œif you cannot dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshitā€

Much like the Russians, biological and chemical weapons donā€™t recognise borders. What would happen if these weapons were used close to Nato countries borders and the nearby civilian population were exposed .Do you think this could be deemed an attack on Nato.

What did Boris Johnson say?

Hereā€™s a quick summary of the UK prime ministerā€™s key messages in his press conference at the emergency Nato summit in Brussels:

  • The UK will ramp up lethal aid to Ukraine ā€œat scaleā€ in order to help President Zelensky to defend his country from its ā€œbullying neighbourā€
  • The UK will send 6,000 more missiles and Ā£25m in unrestricted funding for Ukraineā€™s armed forces
  • There will be a new deployment of UK troops to Bulgaria, on top of a doubling of UK troops both in Poland and in Estonia
  • Nato and the G7 are united in their determination to wean themselves off Russian oil and gas
  • The UK PM again ruled out a no-fly zone over Ukraine - saying it would involve the RAF taking down Russian fast jets
  • Johnson said he was ā€œnot remotely anti-Russianā€ and was sympathetic to the Russian people, but not Vladimir Putin
  • Talk about the use of nuclear weapons is a distraction, the use of conventional weapons in Ukraine is ā€œabsolutely barbaricā€
  • He said he believes President Putin understands the use of chemical weapons would be ā€œcatastrophic for himā€

I really donā€™t know mate. I think there have already been certain acts of military aggression that NATO could have used to justify a response, if they wanted to. Clearly NATO are extremely reluctant to be pulled into this unless something happens that is truly horrific.

Is Ukraine basically fighting a proxy war for NATO? It seems a bit like this.

Iā€™m by no means looking to defend the US of A but isnā€™t America a country built on accepting refugees over a long period of time.Besides how many South and Central American refugees make their way to Europe every year.

More Ukrainian refugees will come to our countries because we are closer and weā€™ll deal with it as best we can. Currently we have taken in 10k to a population of 5 million. We expect to double that before the end of the month. At this point in time itā€™s the right thing to do.

Will they have to pick fruit?

Itā€™s an extremely delicate situation. They should be extremely careful and wary of their next steps because if this escalates into a confrontation between NATO and Russia, the use of nuclear weapons by the latter and a NATO retaliation should be a given. That has to be avoided at all costs.

Unfortunately, there isnā€™t a clear way out of this. Putin wonā€™t stop until he gets his victory and to that end heā€™s perfectly capable of resorting to anything. The implemented sanctions while unprecedented are obviously not enough to dissuade him or threaten his regimeā€™s stability within Russia. And all the while, thousands are dying from bullets, missiles and bombs, there is an energy crisis in Europe and a famine is about to hit some of the poorest countries in the world in Africa and the Middle East.

For me they are fighting for Europe, they are fighting for me and they shame me. They have my full support and their cause is completely justified!

Really wish German goverment would grow some balls or ovaries or whatever and stop the gas and oil imports now, at least temporarily. And yes, Iā€™m aware of the consequences, itā€™s widely debated here. But weā€™ll survive, letā€™s see how Putin deals with that.
