I find this kind of shit almost as dispiriting as the stories of atrocities committed by Russian soldiers. When I hear that tired old refrain that it’s Putin and not the Russian people that we have a problem with then I have to say sorry but no. Their total inhumanity and their sheer arrogance remind me very much of Israelis. Another nation that similarly believe themselves to be a chosen people and to be able to cast others as subhumans , safe in the knowledge that their unrivalled might gives them licence to act any damn way they want. It’s probably no coincidence that so many Russians have found a home there , and another people they can brutalise with impunity. It seems almost like a sport to these sick bastards.

Agree. Time for them to experience some heavy permanent sanctions and ostracism from the world. They can return to being depressed alcoholic peasants dying under dictatorship until another generation comes along that is ready for something better.

I feel it’s a little harsh to be condemning all Russians, but definitely de-Nazification needs to occur there…

Noones condemning all Russians however it is clear there is a depravity from top to bottom. We see this in their military where it’s obvious by the scale of deprivation it’s a depravity that comes from the top and replicated to the bottom. A band of sickos who don’t follow any rules just orders and their own deprived immorale code.

I am having massive problems with this. I have looked on with horror how we in the west have sponsored this despite knowing the depravity of that system particularly since what happened in Georgia. We are now seeing the consequences of our ‘laisser faire’ attitude. Still just sitting back watching from afar yet it’s closer than we realise imo.

This is not a time for being kind with ‘Oh! it’s not all of them’ diversions. It’s time for action!

Nowhere in peterroberts post did he imply ‘all’. He was commenting on a general depravity. It also sickens me how we are sitting back in a general depravity watching on as someone else does our dirty work FFS!

I’m obviously generalising mate , and I don’t believe that every single Russian is like that. But I am talking about a big majority .If I’m not wrong , I think Putin’s approval ratings have actually to climbed to about 80% since the invasion. That’s a terrible indictment of a population as a whole.

“Hello, I am Boris from Gallopski and I have a few questions for you. Do you approve of our glorious leader Vladimir Putin or do you want to live in a salt mine in Siberia?”

I think you underestimate the power of their propaganda machine…

I’d say that there are far more parallels with 1930s Germany. The populace then, was overridingly in support of their leader as it is now. The widespread propaganda involving the use of symbols (swastika/Z), indoctrination of the children and the youth and massive rallies, was catered for and addressed to gullible, receptive fools as it is now. And just like then, there is a small number of brave souls (German resistance/Russian dissidents) who were locked up or worse.

The sanctions were always bound to rally the Russian people around Putin initially, the hope being that his level of approval will subside eventually as every day life in Russia deteriorates. But it’s been a month of war and there is no evidence of a more widespread antiwar undercurrent, let alone movement. It’s starting to feel that the 70-80% of the Russian population who support Putin and his actions are as complicit as the Germans were in propping up and following a psychopath.

Surely the ‘power’ of their propaganda machine is what he’s pointing to, no? :sob:

Surely not!
The sanctions are surely against the regime in place not the populace. An economic tool to take Russia hence Putin out of world financial et commercial circulation.

Bodies and streets checked for boobytraps. Slightly graphic.
