Probably for the first time , many people here are now beginning to believe that she has a chance of the Presidency. I still doubt it myself but I’m not so complacent as to think it’s an impossibility. What helps me sleep though is the thought that even were she to pull it off , the French would have immediate buyer’s remorse and that her party would be eviscerated in the parliamentary elections which follow one week on from the second round vote. It would still be an absolute shock to the system to have her as the head of one of the two big European powers , but it would also mean that her most abhorrent pledges would never come to pass. Leaving the EU and NATO would be impossible , especially now. There is also the very real possibility of an insurrection imo.
