I didn’t realise that China imported so little. Western sanctions will really bite. If only they were going further and quicker.
Not sure that’s Medvedchuk in the tweet above. Pretty confident it’s Mark Rylance.
The two pipelines that connect into China are quite small. Russia’s entire pipeline system was originally designed to move natural gas from NW Siberia to the populated western part of the USSR. As it expanded, it expanded to serve European demand, extending westward and with the three major lines being twinned/expanded to serve as trunk lines. The pre-existing infrastructure has made the investments pay off more quickly. Even the lines to move gas south within Siberia are fairly small, and those are the basis for the two interconnects to China. One of them is just east of Kazakhstand, far away from the major centers of demand, and the other borders Manchuria - at the end of a long but narrow diameter line built to serve a few cities towards the eastern part of Russia. If Europe drops natural gas on a permanent basis, I am sure China will invest with Gazprom in transmission capacity, but it just isn’t there now.
Frankly bollocks. There were 3 reactors closed at the end of last year that would be capable of being reactivated within a year. All the others are either well into decommissioning or still operational.
I’m calling that fake.
No way are they Russian tanks - they are still mobile
When I see pictures like that, NATO must intervene. Those poor children, what the fuck is wrong with these Russian bastards?
Same thing that was wrong with the Nazis, they see everyone else as subhuman.

Biden describes Russian actions as ‘genocide’

The phrase marks a first for the White House administration, which has so far avoided the highly-charged term to describe Russia’s killing of civilians.
“Your family budget, your ability to fill up your tank - none of it should hinge on whether a dictator declares war and commits genocide a half a world away,” Biden said.
Ukraine’s President Zelensky has described the killings of civilians in the town of Bucha near Kyiv – which has sparked widespread accusations of war crimes – as “real genocide”.
And earlier on Tuesday, Ukraine’s president said that new mass graves are being uncovered “almost daily” in regions that had been previously occupied by Russia.
Doesn’t recognising something as genocide impose an obligation to intervene?
Apparently, in 2020 Germany exported a larger amount of gas (that it didn’t need) to other European countries, mainly the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, than it had imported from Russia in the same year, making it the 6th largest exporter of gas in the world.
I had no idea tbh.
I noticed this from Wladimir Klitschko:

It is true that the German President has made a lot of errors regarding his past policy with Russia, which was massively harmful to Ukraine. The President has apologised and admitted to these errors. I think it is essential for us as Ukraine to keep building bridges to Germany. During my visit to Berlin i had the opportunity to talk to all the important German politicians and it showed that personal meetings are always beneficial. Germany is Ukraine’s number one financial benefactor, renders humanitarian aid, massively helps refugees and send more and more weapons deliveries, although we need much more. It is of the utmost importance at this point that Ukraine together with Germany and the EU keeps showing a strong opposition against the Russian invasion. I hope that the President’s visit is only postponed and can be made in the coming weeks.
It looks like he is concerned about alienating German politicians. I think Zelenskyy is trying to appeal to other politicians weaknesses. Scholz (and other German politicians) sense of shame on the one hand whilst flattering Johnson’s over-inflated ego on the other. Klitschko does have a lot of connections with Germany so he probably has a better idea of what is likely to go down well.
