I wonder how many NATO special forces are currently in Ukraine, Belarus, and Crimea. I bet we’ve got SBS, SAS, and RAF Regiment in there right now.

Only in western Ukraine. US pulled out some, Canada pulled out all. Trainers. NATO very worried about direct contact with Russians. I seriously doubt SAS in Crimea or behind enemy lines. Capture of such forces would be incredibly embarrassing and lead to great diplomatic difficulties.

Maybe two days ago. Doubt any such capture would be that embarrassing now and fear of capture in places where they really shouldn’t be has never stopped them going to those places before…unofficially, of course.

I disagree. Direct contact with NATO troops could spiral to war, which NATO is very uninterested in. Also, Crimea is fortified and there are no ways for the SAS to gain access. It is after all one of the major hubs of the operation. Would then need to be deployed by mini subs. Seems not plausible, ultra high risk and lots of Russian active counter meassures.
My opinion anyway.

Of course Russia will “win” but it is slightly surprising to me how much of a meal of it the Russians are making.
They seem to move extremely slowly for 21st century warfare. I’ve seen it described as “purposeful” but that seems to just be a generous word.

Especially with a traditional armor force. Tank warfare is not about “purposeful” movement, it’s about violence of action and surprise. I think a lot is being put on display and it’s not all good for Russia’s look

Note that they have, for reasons why don’t know, not used their EWAR capabilities. Internet is up in Ukraine, as is phones. Analysts are wondering why. Some suspect it is because they wanted the Ukrainian people to see films of the bombings. Also, Only 50 percent of BTG’s have yet to attack. RosGvardia not deployed at all yet. Just sitting there at the border waiting.In addition, for reasons why do not know, their use of long range fire and MLSR has been…very conservative. Analysts wonder why. Their capability stationed along the border could absolutely deal triple or quadruple the amount of Iskanders for instance. Some things are just not right. Feels as if they are waiting for something…

I am going to be straight and tell you all my suspicion. My suspicion is that Russia is waiting for Ukraine to fully engage and concentrate their forces. Then Kaboom-Blam, ballistic and cruise missile strikes all over those concentrated forces. Only then, I suspect, will EWAR be turned on fully for maximum confusion.

I agree. The world is prepared to let Russia pick Ukraine to pieces if Russia does not extend that aggression beyond Ukraine but cannot be seen doing nothing, so here goes “tough” sanctions.
