Russian War Crimes (Part 2)

I am not a massive believer of Karma. So I’ll accept the embarrassment that’s taking place on the battlefield. They really have been shown to have a truly pathetic military.

I haven’t been following the thread closely, but if there are defenders of Russia in here, that is disappointing.

In this particular instance, Russia is very clearly in the wrong.

For a long time I have been hoping that Putin’s own generals, or the Russian people themselves, will rise up and put a stop to the madness. Full respect to the Russian people who have protested, at great risk to themselves and their families.

I hope there is a tipping point soon, and this thing stops before we get to a nuclear threshold.

Sorry, don’t think I worded that correctly. There is one guy on here, I believe, but I was referring to here being South Africa.

It’s just a matter of the way a lack of empathy and a crash and burn attitude has overtaken many thing i.e. If I disagree with you on one thing then I must default to that position on absolutely everything even if that position hurts me as well.

The reliably excellent Dr.Timothy Snyder here with an analysis of the predicament that Putin and Russia now find themselves in , and a thorough debunking of their nuclear threats.

Does it matter. He’s “skilfully” turned it into a us and them.

Does what matter ? And there’s nothing skillful about anything he’s done. The us and them exists only in his mind. No-one else takes that nonsense seriously.

Agree.

But.

The internal consuming part has no choice and is all that matters. The people have no real choice but to follow and more so now. A change will only mean things will get worse - which is what he has painted and would happen in the short term.

The skilful is in parenthesis, ie not really skill full.

I sometimes wonder if we’ve gone back/are going back (or did we ever leave it) to the age of feudalism. Where a lording can lord it over his subjects with impunity and w/o consequence.

Unlike antiquity, nowadays u gather a certain amount of wealth and/or fame to achieve an escape velocity from the local and international rule of law and boom, u’re free to do what u want. The vehicle for said fame and fortune can b anything from being in government to oligarchy to royalty (inherited wealth) to “business”.

that has never left, just less obvious. Taxes taxes taxes so the politicians and oligarchs can hoard their extremes of wealth.

What is the difference between Gates, Buffet, Hughes or Vanderbilt to the Russian oligarchs?? Or between the Russian oligarchs and Indian and Chinese billionaires? In the same vein Russian politicians and those from the US, Europe or many other parts of the world - including China and india? There are similarities but where is the line in the sand that the Russia episode has crossed?

ps I’m happy to pay taxes - it is what facilitates my addictions!

to be honest, very little except their industries. Gates is the lesser of the evils, IMO. he’s getting a raw deal when it comes to the theory conspiracies against him with the vaccinations he’s been funding and this NWO bullshit. the man has given away a great portion of his wealth and he’s getting roasted for it.

More gains for the Ukrainians around Bakhmut and the first mention I’ve heard of Gazprom pmc who , as the following article explains are far from being the only other pmc now involved in the conflict. It seems like every oligarch worth his salt wants a piece of the action now after seeing just how powerful Prigozhin has become. This certainly looks like a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth however as rivalries and squabbles look set to blunt the Russians’ strategic capabilities.

It’s smart to get these kind of clips out. If they can convince a conscript army that surrender is possible and preferable it can make things better for all concerned.

The flag is upside down. Does that mean something?
