“The Battle of Bakhmut, by now likely the bloodiest single military engagement of the 21st century, looks to have finally entered its twilight.”

Looks like the last strip of Bakhmut is now in Russian hands, both sides claiming to have crippled the other’s offensive capacity - which I suppose is backhanded recognition by both sides that strategically it was never critical.

It will be interesting to see what happens if Prigozhin is serious about getting his fighters out of there next week. With Ukraine now holding high ground on its flanks would Russia be willing to send its regular army into what could become a shooting range for Ukrainian artillery ?

I think that is exactly why Wagner surged to clear out the last remnants at considerable cost. Declare victory, hand it over to the Army, and then let them deal with the situation. Should they lose it, he looks like the betrayed hero.

Honestly, fuck every nation that is helping Russia get around the economic sanctions. I read the other day how there are some middle eastern nations importing Russian oil for cheap while selling their own for exorbitant prices - Help Russia and make a bucket load while doing it. Cunts.

I wish we could remove our reliance on oil from countries that are untrustworthy in this way. Yes @cynicaloldgit it would be nice if we could just remove our reliance on oil across the world* full stop but we aren’t there yet. We will get there one day.

*The world excluding USA, who will never accept a suppression to any form of freedom unless its expressly written into an 18th century document. They’ve demonstrated, as with their schoolchildren, that lives don’t matter as long as their freedoms remain.

Shit is going down in Belgorod, Russia. Lots of rumour doing the rounds and a few slapstick comments about the People’s Republic of Belgorod. Lots in jest because nobody really seems to know what the fuck is going on but there does seem to be some Russian Freedom Legion that appears to be making assaults in the region.

The FSB Border Post also appears to have been destroyed.

The middle eastern cunts need to be sent back to the stone age

not as long as there isn’t a convenient, inexpensive way of running your son to training at the academy 4x a week.

There’s no confirmation of that. He was supposed to be ill a week or so back. Apparently yesterday’s meeting was to agree to Russian tactical nukes being stationed in Belarus.

Lukashenko or no Lukashenko , the fact that Belarus now has Russian nukes on its soil will soon lead to a massive military presence. The country has to all intents and purposes been annexed. Any future elections would be a sham.

And ended with Putin being confirmed as Belarus Vice President and the prefered option for President when their next ‘election’ is held

I believe the saying goes… the best defense, is a good offense?

wow, this is quite a reveal. nb… the headlines of these reports are getting a bit far-fetched, but the content reported from the interview with Prighozin (sp?) is far more telling.

Prigozhin is full of shit. The only reason Putin tolerates him is because he keeps the generals on their toes. As soon as this is over he will find himself getting the Navalny treatment.

that whole bit in the video about how the Russian operation has backfired, you think that’s bullshit? I would tend to agree with him, based on the current state of affairs in this war. I haven’t been posting much lately, but UA forces are now hitting targets in Russia itself and there are now Russians who are invading the Belgorod region in conjunction with UA forces. This looks like a reversal of tides, at the moment.

I meant trusting him to be reliable with the numbers.

I question the UA numbers just as much as Russia’s. there’s a LOT of disinformation floating around.
