I am extremely skeptical as to what this Kursk incursion will achieve, apart from making Russians panic and destroy some equippment and taking som prisoners. The eastern front has buckled for months and has broken now. RU advancing 500 meters per day, sometimes a bit less, sometimes a bit more.
And Ukraine is deploying 2-3 batallions to cause havok in Kursk. On one hand, bringing the war to Russians is good in that for the Russian opposition to the war to grow, they need to be seriously affected, but on the other hand, stabilising the eastern front is maybe more important right now.

But cool videos of dowing a KA-52 around Kursk and ambushing some vehicles inside Russia. Panic now also at the nuclear plant in Kursk, but Ukraine isn’t going to be able to hold it, you know. Jaja. I hope they have an actual strategic plan with this incursion and it’s not just sending the Free Russia units on Yolo-create-havoc-and a scare thing.

I’m not sure I understand it, is it that the purpose of Ukraine’s attack on Kursk is just as a distraction for Russia to redeploy resources in that direction, and to embarrass the Russian leadership?

I don’t fucking know tbh. Yesterday, i was caustic and extremely skeptical about this adventure because they reportedly threw an enitre brigade into this raid, when there is great manpower deficiency on the eastern front. (However, one must note that some of these are ofensive troops, perhaps not best used in trenches).

Word now, but it’s yet just rumours, is that we have a substantial 3-4 Ukrainian brigades rolling into Kursk. But rumours on numbers and all Ukrainian brigades are far smaller than what we in the West call a brigade and usually severely understaffed. But even so…

Either this is genious, idiocy or some where in between. I don’t yet know. Depends on results and depends if this can actually draw RU forces from Donbas to Kursk, or at least their strategic reserves. Many analysts thinks it won*t. But time will tell. As I said above, this is a situation in flux and there is a lot of fog. But it has taken everyone by surprise and UKR Op-Sec has for once been stellar.
But is the incurision wise just becuse they embarras RU ? No, must achieve more than just politics for it to be worth it imo. But honestly looks bit promising with so many RU soldiers surrendering. But I would never be arrogant enough to claim I know, when there are so many factors I am unaware of. Situation moving very fast, but in flux and so much fog.

Which I honestly think I have never ever seen before (that’s why i posted it)! He is a master of being ultra composed and in control of himself in public. An exageration, but his mother could have just been shot by his hated mafia rival, he will smile wrily and confidently say that “he will learn to regret this very soon”. But not here.
I think it will take too much manpower to hold this territory and with restrictions on use of western weapons inside Russia, probably a military disaster in the long run. I think this is a raid still. But I don’t know. I am still perplexed.
