It seems they want to depopulate the area close to the front.
Russians trying to take the mine in Vuhledar. It they succeed, Vuhledar will fall due to geograåhy. So far, they have gained ground but been repelled. RU attacks there daily, usually with platoon and smaller, sized groups to probe and take ground. Costly, but such human waves are effective if you have enough of them over time.

Is that so ? (I seem to remember just after Kherson was liberated at just how perilous it was for UA to get across the river and out onto the islands.)
