Like any fan. Iâm consoling myself that we can cope without Gakpo and Isak but itâs probably not true.
Heâs consoling himself in something he hopes is true. As for the differences between City and Everton cases. I know, these are far more serious so not implementing a sizeable points deduction basically says itâs fine if you commit on a higher scale.
Reason it was implemented was because 11 clubs were basically insolvent and the Pyramid was chasing it.

The Premier League hasnât actually announced anything as yet have they? The reports are essentially leaks from the PL meeting last week where the clubs were told of where things were at.
I donât think itâs a case of City not knowing. Itâs that they wonât have expected it to come out into the public yet. Iâm sure the PL would have preferred to come to a conclusion on a punishment before announcing the verdict and said punishment as one.
I would want titles to go elsewhere, blanket rule regardless of how many points behind. That said, I do get the null and void point of view. What I cannot comprehend is them being allowed to keep titles. That will have justified any of the nefarious means they have used and the players themselves will feel justified even if benefitted from it and should have known the money was dirty.
If itâs not all for nothing on their side then theyâve benefitted from the proceeds of their actions and when they do recover from whatever sanction they get they will still have all got all their illgotten titles to show and that is wrong, plain and simple.

An alternative, somewhat conspiratorial theory, is they knew they needed to fucking hammer city for it but were concerned with public blow back. Getting it leaked has allowed them to see how people are responding. To my pleasant surprise, a broad consensus appears to have formed quickly that the most severe of punishments are appropriate. What appears to have happened is even people whose initial reaction was skepticism on the size of punishment have quite quickly talked themselves into acknowledge the need for this to be severe. The number of serious people even contemplating a death penalty like sentence has really surprised me

That would be a fair punishment for cheating for 10 seasons that they have been found guilty of, we donât know how much they have cheated between 2018 and now, so burn them to the fucking ground

Every step of the way Iâve listened to peopleâs cynicism for this process and how nothing would happen, and itâs always been totally misplaced. If the Premier League were intent on brushing Cityâs cheating under the carpet, they wouldnât have brought the charges in the first place, never mind find them guilty.

I wonder is someone, involved in the matter, heard talk about the PL looking to be lenient towards City, like they were towards Chelsea, and that person wasnât having it, knowing that leaking the information would cause an uproar, in the public, and force the PL towards a more potent punishment.

I think the Premier League should have been much harsher on Chelsea, but we have to stop comparing these cases.
The relative leniency shown towards Chelsea was largely because they brought the transgressions to the premier leagueâs attention as soon as they were discovered during the diligence they did to buy the club. There was full cooperation and transparency with with process.

Understood. The intent wasnât to compare the cases, but the idea that the PL was thinking of being lenient towards City. In my mind, the league went much to easy on Chelsea, even if they âcooperatedâ.

Somewhere in this thread, thereâs a post stating that the penalty is announced first, and then the appeal is expected within 14 days.

Im quite confident, with findings of obstruction, flagrancy and tax avoidance, we arenât going to see leniency at all, but record penalties. Itâs just that they arenât going to extend to re-awarding titles.

Have the feeling they will kind of negotiate some soft punishment and City will agree to not appeal so that this case will be closed before the end of the year:
No titles stripped.
Transfer ban up to two years.
Hefty financial fine.
50 points deduction which makes it likely for them to avoid relegation.
