In their defence, a quick Google suggests that their degree is in Communication, which nowadays just translates to marketing, so I don’t think it’s their fault.

I don’t think they’re lying here. Naïve perhaps. But not dishonest.

And a large part of this is being nice.

Having worked in marketing and now having marketing people report to me. I can’t stress enough on how important even minor things are to their jobs.

Don’t want to fill the survey. Fine. That’s your prerogative. No one’s being forced to provide their personal details in any which way.

Thank you for this, yes it is a thesis but I have to pair it with a company. In my country your thesis often is like this its called a graduating internship. Besides that if people don’t want to fill in this survey thats fine but there is nothing ungenuine or dishonest about this. If this survey was done in my country people would just be friendly and try to help you. I notice a lot of skeptism here with the Brits

I think a large part of the sceptism is down to the forum getting similar requests every so often, some of which have ended up being either in bad faith or potentially fraudulent, which isn’t your fault of course.

I think the way you’ve engaged with people here is to your credit and helps you seem on the level, for what it’s worth.

I see, ofcourse it makes sense to me that someone randomly dumping a survey in a fanforum seems odd and a bit “commercial” and not suit the purpose of this forum. But it is quite a challenge to get respondents of this targetgroup, especially in another country. My first thought was genuinly fanforums
