I find it strange that no one is talking about them winning the quadruple, yet the media were so happy to do it at the first “real” possibility of Liverpool doing it in order to pile more pressure on the team.
They also look better positioned to do it than any PL side in recent history, mainly because their side of CL draw is incomparably easier to the other one.
Do they do it because they want to pile extra pressure on those teams or because it’s worth reporting, also because it’s so rare?
I don’t think the players take it as more pressure, they probably realize more and more the opportunity they have. And probably go game by game. That’s what it is. They’re at a stage now where they would be surely disappointed not to win something, win probably the league.
But the rest (or all of it!) is so hard to achieve that it’s an amazing opportunity. It’s natural that the media can’t stay silent about those prospects, they’re just doing their jobs.
Yes but do you see it being constantly talked about in Arsenal’s case? Their quest for quadruple looks stronger than Liverpool’s but I saw only one article a few weeks back, in The Telegraph, I think, where they actually urged caution regarding Arsenal’s chances to win it. With Klopp’s Liverpool, they were talking about it all day long!
Its a boring story. It just wheeled out by the pundits when there isnt much else to talk about. This season just has other plot lines, and some really quite novel ones (football has gone to shit and arsenal are a plague) that there isnt the void that needs to be filled with a “quad chase is on” storyline.
