Yeah that´s what I think. Or somebody with excellent positioning and defensive instincts perhaps like Fabinho may work. Wouldnt be a very mobile 3 with Wirtz, but I think it would be balanced and excellent on the ball. Ultimately he would need somebody to make up for his shortcomings, as did Pirlo, Xavi and Scholes. Obviously much better players but similar roles to some degree.
Doesn´t have to be Wharton of course. Just a more passing-focused player to bring Wirtz into the game and offer that direct forward threat over the top or through teams. These passing types are often less mobile.
