Chelsea after the second break has been moved to Sunday at 4.30pm.
Kind of pleased with that as it will give us the maximum extended break after internationals.
Moves it closer to the CL tie on the Wednesday but Arsenal the following week is 4.30pm Sunday as well.
The cancellation of the derby comes at a perfect time and could be gold for our league campaign.
We are able to start a well rested team vs Girona to hopefully secure Top8 qualification.
That’s Tuesday with an early kickoff which means enough time to prepare for Fulham at Anfield.
Then some rotation in the League Cup vs Southampton before being able to go all in vs Spurs in the league.
Yeah, medal for Darragh.
Lucky general perhaps?
I would say we might not get Oliver especially if it’s a CL night as I think he is one of the ones we send for that.
Then again we will get some numpty.
Had a scan through where this fixture could fit and I got the following and possible reasons why it won’t.
1st/2nd Jan - Being a derby I think the police would probably be against the 1st date also these things need advance notice and we are already less than a month.
8/9 Jan - If we make the semi final of the league cup then it’s not possible, same goes for the return date.
Any FA cup weekend - depends on our and their progress
CL weeks - Thursday maybe a possible but I can’t see TNT wanting to stick a Derby to clash with their CL dates, also don’t think they are allowed until the later rounds.
First free date is 23rd April.
Two fixtures moved to Sunday in Feb, latter to be expected.
THIRTEEN games between tomorrow and February 1, 2025. That’s one game per 3.23 days. We would be able to rotate a fair bit with two not-so-significant CL games, the FA Cup game, and possibly the return leg of the League Cup SF.
Come on Reds, raise hell
Both games lead into an FA cup weekend so that’s not too bad.
If the Everton game can be replayed sometime as the last home game for Everton (assuming they are finishing their last game away) , that would be perfect. Both for them and for us.
For us because we get to further kick in their balls as the new champions all while Everton battle to 15th. They probably won’t have anything to play for and we can stroll through as well too.
And for the entire historical element part of it , I’m really surprised that the PL hasn’t taken note of the history between the two clubs and having a chance to schedule the last game in Goodison between the two clubs would guarantee quite a lot of eyeballs to the product as well
You were doing so well
Our next four league matches (until January 18th) include ManU at Anfield and away trips to West Ham, Brentford (very strong at Home) and MIGHTY FOREST!!!
I think 10 points would be a huge step in the title race but it’s far from easy.
And because this is far from easy I hold a grudge with Santa for ignoring my wish of having Konate back…
Brentford is a tricky match, but Arne’s going to be gunning for Forest.
I feel sorry for Forest.
“For the last time, it’s ARNE NOT ARNIE”
Looks like Konate and Bradley aren’t far off. Slot talking of potentially having them back in some form for Man Utd.
Do we have the home advantage in the second leg of our CL Round of 16 tie? Do we already know if it is Tuesday or Wednesday?
This is being played in midweek before the League Cup final so could make a difference against a well rested Newcastle side.
It’s moved Villa to the other spare week in the CL period.
On the plus side it means Sunday-Wednesday for the next few weeks which should give the players a fair bit of rythmn.
Effectively
Plymouth (Sun) A
Everton (Wed) A
Wolves (Sun) H
Aston Villa (Wed) A
Man City (Sun) A
Good thing is it makes Villa’s schedule pack up.
