Then it struck me, those were people on minimum wages. Given the economic conditions in the UK, this decision would probably drive them to destitution.

I think Iād be ashamed to go into work and look others in the eye if I earned that for that level of work.

One of my favourite stories ever was related to Redondo who picked up a serious injury shortly after joining Milan from Real, before he could play for them. He famously refused to take a pay check from them (might have and given it to charity) until he was back fit enough to play. Imagine the goodwill if some of these under performing arses covered some of the adminstrative cost of the club currently being gutted.

Not to mention that the Glazers took some 1.5b for that 28% of the club from Ratcliffe. That money could have been used to clear the debt totally and hence make it more easier for the club.
That money was used to pay out some of the Glazer clan. IIRC there were six Glazers and two sold their shares to INEOS. But none of it was reinvested in the club.
FTR INEOS is implementing the playbook H&G would have done, though even H&G werenāt this bad.
Iām beginning to think administration may have been the best thing to happen to LFC over the past two decades.

The Ā£20 million Ratcliff is saving annually in redundancies will likely be used at least in part to refinance the debt on the club when it comes due.
Iāll take a look at the debt structure later. But with Ā£1 billion in debt and interest rates rising, a 2% increase in the cost of debt = Ā£20 million.
