I know it’s very improper, but I laughed out after read the article.

US and UK bullied PA for the ICC and the ICJ initiatives, trained PA to be a bully, ensured all probable alternatives to PA/Abbas are weeded out, and now hoping that this crooked institute can take charge of the tinderbox of Gaza.

I might be way off. But the Arab countries aren’t really keen on a Palestinian state as well. They might offer lip service but nothing more substantial.

Hamas is becoming nothing more than an extended proxy of Iran which itself isn’t the most trustworthy nation going around. Hamas won’t get the independence that Palestinians need.

PA , has proven to be corrupt, and their approach while slightly cumbersome to Israel and it’s Allies(especially in approaching ICC) , isn’t going to get them any more forward. Israel won’t recognise Palestine as a country and as the article states , isn’t signatory to the ICC as well.

Is there really a way out ? Or would Palestinians be better served migrating ? It’s their land and there’s been great injustice towards them but surely a life as a migrant (while tough in itself) has to be preferable to what’s happening in Gaza and maybe in West Bank in future.

To where? Present number of Palestinians

West Bank & East Jerusalem: 3 million
Gaza: 2.3 million
Jordan: 2.1 million
Syria: 530K
Lebanon: 450K

That’s nearly 8.5 million

I think you can make a case that there are far more Palestinians in exile than in Gaza/West Bank.

Go where ? That’s a good question. Anywhere has to be better than Gaza for sure. Is it unfair, yes. But they atleast will have more chances of a better life. There’s no future for them in Gaza.

Are you talking about all Palestinians, or just those in Gaza?

Where would Gaza Palestinians go? West Bank/East Jerusalem, that’s under incremental encroachment? Even if a bunch of countries agree to share the burden of 2.3 million refugees (not before hell freezes over), it would pose an enormous challenge for their social, economic, and political system.

There’s a lot of stories in the media about raising antisemitism a bit everywhere, but there is also rising anti-Palestianism** it seems

** In fact, it’s antisemitism as well, as Palestinians are semites too.

So Israel thinks it’s fine to scold world leaders who they think are soft on terrorists , and meanwhile they fĂȘte Elon Musk who has just been promoting anti-semitic tropes on his platform.

So how does that work exactly ?

Money talks!!! :money_mouth_face:

It just proves that their incessant accusations of anti-semitism against anyone who criticises them is simply a tool to silence people and nothing else.

Probably not exactly appropriate in the context, but woohoo  :palms_up_together:

Good news of course , but I don’t see these extensions turning into a full blown ceasefire , and I do fear just exactly what other horrors they’ve been planning these past few days. Netanyahu has said that they will return to prosecuting the war with ‘full force’ once this pause is over. One can only shudder to think what that might mean.

I wonder if the writers of Homeland thought of this

Well, none. That’s the idea, haven’t you got the memo!

Hard to work out what Hamas’ thinking is holding onto the youngest and now probably most visible hostage (10 month old Kfir Bibas). Seems like a real propaganda own goal, lets his photo get splashed across TV screens and newspapers as a justification for resuming hostilities.
