The Music Thread

Bands which started their early careers from my West London area are as follows:

-The Who formed in Shepherds Bush- Pete Townsend, Roger Daltry and Jon Entwistle are from Acton.
-Rolling Stones- played regularly at Ealing Jazz Club
-Freddie Mecury- Ealing Tech College. Student Union bar us named after him in now called West London University.
-The Clash formed in West London.

Freddie also had a Liverpool connection. One of his early bands (possibility Wreckage) was Liverpool based, and he lived in a flat on Penny Lane.

I saw that place on the Beatle Tour bus. The guide told us the story. If he stayed in Liverpool, who knows what would have happened with his style of music.

If we were currently in WH40K universe, I’d call you a heretic and send out an interrogator after you.

Currently listening to the 40th Anniversary release of Brothers In Arms.

Still one of my favourite albums - an absolute classic.

When CD players first became popular, “Brothers In Arms” seemed to be the one album that everyone had. I’m not sure whether that said anything about the musical tastes of people who could afford CD players.

I loved it. I’ve always been a big blues-rock fan, so they were right down my steet.

With apologies to both you and @cynicaloldgit I’ve never heard of it, so it’s going into my queue now.

Mate had a spare ticket so am at a gig for a band called McClusky tonight. They’re alright, but I preferred their support

What, were McKluskey wearing suspenders?

And a bra. Putting on womens clothing and hanging round in bars. Bloody lumberjacks

I met this girl in Austin a couple years ago. Now she’s collaborating with Steve Ignorant. That’s showbiz.

I’m going to see Sisters Of Mercy at the Roundhouse tonight.

What are you going to wear?

Clothes.

If I remember.

I saw them a couple years ago in Copenhagen with, I think, The Psychedelic Furs. Sisters of Mercy were terrific - even convinced my purely post 1990 metal friend to venture beyond his usual horizons.

The Psychedelic Furs were also there.

Think I might wear my 2003 Tour long sleeve.

Although it might need ironing first.
