True.
And I still marvel at the extreme difficult simplicity of this quintessential piece.
One can learn the basic riff in three minutes and still cramp up for weeks before getting the groove right… and without it the thing doesn’t work at all.

It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing.
Savatage is among the worlds most underrated heavy rock bands, probably THE most underrated.
Miserabilist, end of the world, dystopian, pessimistic classic.
Loved it.
People think they’ve got it bad now, they didn’t grow up with the threat of nuclear obliteration hanging over their heads and terrorists going off all over Europe. OK, there is a pandemic going on, but that apart from that this is a golden age. Well, OK yes there are fascist coups happening in the US and the UK, but that apart things aren’t so bad, are they? Ah. The environment. Global warming, extreme weather, forest fires, species die off, glaciers melting …
Bring back the seventies!
Yeah, Them and to a lesser extent Queensryche are criminally under-rated
So it was the 50th anniversary of Jimi Hendrix’s death on Sept. 18th. Probably why Vevo posted this apparently rare video of Hendrix dating from the year of his death. 1.2 million views in ten days ain’t bad going when you’ve been dead for fifty years.
The setting looks a bit odd. It’s not a festival, the stage is too small for any other acts, and there aren’t many people there. Oh and there’s someone riding a horse behind the stage. Looks like a made for TV thing.
Anyhow, Voodoo Chile (Child) …
Out on October 20th, The Joni Mitchell Archives Vol 1. Can’t wait
Knopfler’s solo and sideman career is now twice as long as his stint as a frontman and twice as interesting for me at least. This is a great slice of Americana:

Some definite metal/heavy rock leanings in this thread which is ALWAYS nice to see - we seem to be a dying breed…

RIP Toots! True Legend!
@cynicaloldgit — Knopfler with Dylan. Goes back to the days of Slow Train Coming, but only better.
Knopfler was way too enthusiastic about the song and Dylan got spooked, pulled it from the album and the rest of us had to wait 8 years for it.
I think Dylan has played it enough live now to have made good on his error.
This is a recording I did with my band 12 years ago, it was an original and did get some good exposure on local airplay…good times…

criminal how this band is overlooked.
This was a single I got from a jumble sale when I was a very young kid. It scared the willies out of me back then. Now it sends more enjoyable shivers down my spine:

It’s very biased toward classical music because I’m slowly working my way through adding my downloaded music collection section for section and a third of the way there!
