First two albums were epic, went downhill afterwards sadly. Great live though.

Images and Words (whole album) Dream Theatre should keep you busy. Always start my runs with this:

After Empire was when QR started falling to pieces.

I&W, Awake , Change of Seasons (EP) from DT are my fav albums from them. They started going full on wankery after Rudess joined in.

Saw them on the Empire tour 30 years ago. Man that makes me feel old!

I see that didn’t work for you. At the moment I am literally listening to Larks Tongues in Aspic, which IMHO is one of the single greatest musical compositions ever. So here it is, and as bonus I’ll throw in Elephant Talk, maybe the US TV version if I can find it.

As a bonus you also get “Thela hun Ginjeet”.

Liked this a lot. Reminiscent of Bauhaus. Particularly the bass line.

Speaking of Bauhaus, I’m going to see them in August. :+1:

“One of the greatest songs of all time …”
(Yes, I kind of relate to it.)

More seventies stuff I’m afraid. This time the hugely underrated X-Ray Spex with their fearless leader Poly Styrene.

I havent seen this post. Will check out this.

Chilling to PoS - Remedy lane remixed right now. Just proved it was possible to make a very good album even better.

Its Gospel night.
If all devotional music was like this, I would be going to the sermons every week.:slightly_smiling_face:

Aretha is just on another stratospheric level in so many genres of music. She is the Queen.

I have heard so many different versions of this song, from Aretha and Pastor Shirley Caeser, but this version my absolute favourite and the best imho, no disrespect to The Queen of Soul and Gospel

This lot are my most favourite Gospel choir, but Mississipi Mass choir come a close second.

I have too much time on my hands, when i am recuperating.

Nice Maria. Aretha’s gospel album is fantastic. Do you like the Staple Singers?

Yes, i was watching a documentary on Aretha and she won a Grammy for her gospel work. It revived her career, going back to her gospel roots.
I also watched the film Respect. I thought Jennifer Hudson acted superbly as Aretha, it was a good film but it lacked abit of substance and sanitised abit, by omitting vertain parts of Aretha Franklin which i thought were part of her character.

No, i don’t know much aboutThe Staples Singers. I will check them out. I love learning about different artists and their background of musical influences.
Nice song

That’s actually a Talking Heads song that they reworked. The Staple Singers grew up alongside Aretha, appearing at the same churches and following a parallel career. They also sang a lot of songs which resonated with the civil rights movement in the sixties.
I’d also definitely recommend Curtis Mayfield and Al Green if you’re into music from that period.

I love Curtis Mayfield , Marvin and Al Green, got a couple of their albums. They are just amazing singers and some of their songs had a social conscience.

All these singers who were from the South originally, all had their roots with Gospel music like Elvis, Sam Cooke and Tina Turner, although, Tina is abit more rocky and bluesy, I think, she was different.

The thing is, I upgrew to listening to alot British bands, some of them took alot of the American music and made their own and the Jamaican ska music, i.e The Clash, Paul Weller, George Michael, The Specials, Madness etc.
