Replacing such a unique player is a mistake anyway. I would expect us to change, subtly, tactically. The last thing we need is ersatz-Mo.
Surely that will depend on their performances and that of the team as a whole?
About 20 years ago Arsenal fans feared losing Henry, a similarly generational talent to Mo, but they barely missed him, not because they bought Henry MK 2 but because their play was no longer dominated by one senior player and others like Fabregas stepped forward.to share the burden.
Admittedly, they came to depend on Fabregas in a similar way but thatâs a different story ![]()
I agree and one of the things I am excited to see is how Slot handles this. At his previous clubs he had no problem switching up how his teams sought to attack other teams - one year scoring most of their goals from assists from out wide, the next driving assists through the middle.
The increase in matchday costs is notable, but I am assuming that has something to do with the increased capacity?
These things are always a year behind but also goes some way to explaining why we didnât spend heavily.
I imagine that will be a factor along with increased wage costs and fees the Local Authority or Police have in place. Also, would energy costs also fall under match day costs in that reference (its also mentioned elsewhere in the piece)
Article mentions it being down to an increased number of matchdays compared to the previous period.
It does give an idea of the considerations the club has to factor in before doing something like give three players enormous contract extensions. Not saying we canât do it but clearly the club doesnât create enough money to just throw any kind of salary at any player.
why would there be a crowd at anfield on the 30th June?
You might as well ask âwhat if they decide to change our home shirts to blue?â because thatâs also a scenario that wonât occur but is a fun made up way to take a bash at the club.
not reallyâŚ
theres every chance Salah leaves and we havent signed anyoneâŚthat was the questionâŚ
its not whether we have replace Mo by september the 1st, its whether we have signed someone before hes off
its a moot point anyways.Salah will leave the club one day, and we will never replace him with an individual player unless with freak some transferâŚit just wont happenâŚ
however, we may replace his contirbution, accross the teamâŚ
That loss is startling, because it shows that despite years of prudent management, it just takes one bad campaign for the club to have a very poor year financially. I am actually surprised, financially the club is not on as firm footings as it was in Kloppâs early period. LFC is essentially locked into needing a top 4 finish every year.
I will be curious to see the actual numbers (donât see the financials on Companies House yet), but it appears that matchday costs have risen much faster than matchday revenues. I donât think there is a great deal of choice but to increase ticket prices.
Didnt they already announce a freeze to ticket prices for next season?
I believe they did, and I assume they will honour that for 25/26. It just cannot last, and it would appear that the next round will need to catch up on a few deferred years. A club in the current competitive landscape cannot swing to a loss that large by missing out on a top 4 finish. Perhaps a loss, but not on the order of ~10% of turnover.
Whatever happens, I just hope he isnât followed by some unkown bald Dutch wannabe!
I think we all know that isnât actually what was being asked.
Could well be the hangers-on from the Billy Joel concert week earlier
Inflation has taken its toll on finances, with matchday costs increasing by almost 80 percent in eight years and forecast to top 100 percent by 2027, utility bills more than doubling in three years and administrative expenses increasing by 88 percent from ÂŁ320m to ÂŁ600m since 2018.
Perhaps this is also a further insight into why the club was so willing to move on youngsters such as Bobby Clark last summer, and an indication that we might see a trimming of the squad wage bill this summer.
When you are the one to put it like this, I have to be worried. How come, for example, Arsenal didnât suffer in a similar manner after missing out on CL football quite a few times, all while having a rather big wage bill? Is Liverpoolâs wage bill spiralling out of control?
