Don’t want out transfers being funded with blood or oil money and actually don’t want someone like Boehly come in and buy like it’s a football manager simulation.
What I want is Owners who look at Arsenal for example. They had no CL for years and did not win anything except for the domestic cups but their owners made funds available in every transfer window - not saying that all signings made sense or worked out.
I will be very honest, I am rather enjoying this whole “liverpool and Man united for sale” saga. I think anyone interested in seeing how hypocrisy and self-righteousness work in everyday society, this is the best case study of that, jus like dave chappelle’s view on abortion being dependent on who he got pregnant. Our moral compass and righteousness only applies when it suits us.
When we moved to New zealand my son became really good friends with an Afrikanar kid who had relocated from cape-town. So me and his dad became very good friends as our kids spent a lot of time together at each other’s houses.
As a person of South African heritage (not born there or ever lived there), I was very much intrigued by the whole apartheid era and had lots of questions.
If the majority of Afrikaner’s are not or were not racist as he claimed, why did they not join the fight against apartheid, would it not have ended much sooner if the majority of Afrikaner’s had been opposed to it. His answer was pretty simple, " it is easier to support a wrong thing and justify that support for that wrong thing when it benefits you. You can overlook and turn a blind eye to all its indiscretions when that system or thing offers you an advantage."
Look at man united fans now, were is the righteous anger for those oil barons, same with newcastle (dudes even play dressing as sheiks) were is that so called moral code? All that shit went out the window when they started winning and saw the possibilities of more winning, their moral high ground disappeared. We are seeing the same thing happen with united before Qatar has even taken over. Even Sky sports has all of a sudden forgotten their LGBTQ+ fight during the world cup. Not one fucking word. Were u at gary neville and were the fuck is harry Kane when you need him. You know who got next right?
I disagree, but it ultimately depends what is important to you.
I don’t want to get into a financial shoot out with the oil clubs, or end up selling out to a sovereign wealth fund looking to use the club to soften its own image.
I want the club to spend what it earns. I believe that we can be successful by being the best at everything that isn’t spending money and breaking FFP. Sports science, analytics, coaching, scouting, etc. FSG have been very, very good at this, and I’d like this to continue.
The day I think it’s just really about who spends the most money, is the day I walk away from football.
Where you been for last 20 years?
United, city, chelsea, barca, real , psg etc all pride themselves on spending silly money.
They have for 20 plus years and you are still here so dont take this the wrong way - but you say you will walk away but youve had over 20 years to do so.
Oh it definitely is but it gets harder each year without spending the silly money.
We now have to compete with a newly funded chelsea, man cheaty, newcastle and a resurgent arsenal and united.
Spending peanuts each summer now wont work which is why FSG ideally want out. They were ok with it being a 2 horse race, Now its 4 or 5 maybe 6 teams…they want to sell.
Recency bias is such a shit thing. Coz the Arse are finally putting a good run in then we should be like them. Bollox. If anything, they’ve copied us to get where they are.
