I am surprised to see Russians claiming there is fighting in Izyum right now, claiming UKR has launched an assault. I would have thought encirclement would make sense, but they may be pushing because they see chaos and the possibility of forcing a total collapse quickly.

It may be bullshit, I admit it was a rumour I heard. From that video I just posted. It may be nonsense. Sorry for posting it, shouldn’t post rumours.
The reason I ask is that the impression forming is that information is not moving around well at all in the Russian forces. Lower echelons have no idea what is going on except in front of them, so relief/supply columns are driving right into hostile forces and/or missing them because they get forced back. Operational level command seems to be mostly playing to Moscow rather than mounting any kind of defence in depth. Meanwhile, the political level seems to be in near-denial and just starting to engage with the situation as it was 72 hours ago.

all of this is to the advantage of Ukraine. They’re organized and up to date with good recon and intel. they seem to respond fluidly and I suspect this attack has been rehearsed outside of the operational theatre.
guys like James Vasquez who returned to Ukraine last week from Texas have been silent for a few days. experienced military men who know what they’re doing are probably priceless to the UA forces right now.
