The Russian Invasion of Ukraine (Part 2)

Russians are really starting to show their true colors for a segment of their population. call it Nationalist or Fascist or whatever, we’re really getting to see a glimpse of the ugly side now. The ones who are totally blind/deaf to the rest of the world

I don’t know. I guess they would be fined or sentenced to prison. Probably prison.

Strange and almost desperate propaganda, their thought processes seem deranged.
Blowing a dam would be for infrastucture damage. It creates a prolonged flash flood. Infrastructure tagets would be the dam itself (water supply and perhaps electricity) bridges down stream (if enough errosion is caused), electrical posts and road metal. Of course flooding, the mess that causes but most of that would run off in 2 days. Mainly it frightens the inhabitants and causes them discomfort, above all a lot to clean up.

The UKR forces on the east bank would have been difficult to supply for some time, presumably at least some of their positions were connected by pontoon bridges that probably would have had to been impassable during a 3 meter surge. There isn’t much in the way of north-south roads on that side of the river, so there is probably some underlying reality to the potential threat.

But there is absolutely nothing to suggest that there was any coordinated effort to launch even limited attacks on that position during the relevant window of time.

… and of course the dam itself was probably a route from one side to the other.

100% correct, this is the dam which was holding back the river to a reservoir.

 Some humour at the expense of that scammer and role player that you may remember from months ago. He has long ago deleted his account of course.

More about the mass graves in Izyum

Post from earlier that I misplaced in the Europa League thread
Russians are trying to reinforce it’s forced north of the river by air and pontoon.

Mass grave with 400 corpses found in liberated Izyum.

HQ of 6th Separate Cossack Motorized Rifle Regiment bombed with HIMAR’s. Many 200 and 300 (Russian military code for dead, 200, and injured, 300).

Googe Translate:
Occupied Stakhanov (Kadiivka), Luhansk region This time, the rusnya and collaborators from the 6th Platov OMSP did not have time to move out of their place of deployment, they were waiting elsewhere, probably As a result of the HIMARS strike on the headquarters in the sports boarding school - 200 and 300 are enough

As well as attacking the dam being dirty it is also against international law.

According to Article 85(3)(c) of the 1977 Additional Protocol I, “launching an attack against works or installations containing dangerous forces in the knowledge that such attack will cause excessive loss of life, injury to civilians or damage to civilian objects” is a grave breach of the Protocol.

Works or installations containing dangerous forces, namely dams, dykes and nuclear electrical generating stations, shall not be made the object of attack, even where these objects are military objectives, if such attack may cause the release of dangerous forces and consequent severe losses among the civilian population

we all know that there are no rules when it comes to warfare. Only the “good guys” have to fight clean. And even then, they don’t.

by any means necessary is what it often comes down to. being realistic, when it comes to war it’s pretty rare that the “rules” are adhered to.

On the topic of war crimes, these liquidations are also a grey zone. It depends on how important they are for propaganda and war effort if it’s “legal” or not. Not that I am comparing this to flooding cities. Just noting it.
