I’m not a military expert like many on here, but it seems to me that more is being made of this bridge explosion than is warranted. It is a propaganda coup, no doubt, but it hasn’t cut off the Crimea as one might have hoped, and the Russians will get their own propaganda from how quickly they got traffic moving again etc. Surely there are more important developments on the battlefield and in the cities that should be getting media attention.

Seagal should be taken out. Someone in the US make it happen.

Volume is down from 48 k cars driving over that bridge per day to (currently) less than 500. Logistically, that matters a lot. The reason why the bridge is targeted is not political, then it had been a war crime, but to fuck up logistics to Kherson and Zaporizhzhia fronts. It also forces Russia to choose between military and civilian supplies to Krim. The Kherch ferry will make it so Russian civilians don’t suffer too much, but militarily the ferry is not enough to continoudsly supply entire divisions at the front. This forces Russia to use another supply route precariously close to the front in Zaporizhzhia.

As for how extensive and permanent the damage will be, time will tell.

He is just a Russophile ex-Hollywood star. No great danger. There are more important propaganda pieces than him. Personally, I also don’t support murder just because someone is a complete asshole. He isn’t a military target (civilians can be, but Seagal is not, as he is absolutely unimportant for the war effort) as such and the US can’t legaly take him out (nor is he worth the effort, money and political capital it would cost to kill him).

I just think he is sad myself.

Edit: Not that the US is at war currently.

Agreed. I was being somewhat flippant and I suppose I was imagining more vigilante than state sponsored. But of course the gun toting, death threatening right wingers who are the ones to do this sort of shite seem to prefer Putin to their real enemy ā€˜communist’ democrats.

Seagal v. Schwarzenegger!

Russia bombing Ukrainians cities all around the country with missiles and drones. Targeting civils and infrastructure.

The attack is still ongoing.
