Could you expand?
The Republicans are on course to gain control of Congress in November.
They have vowed to end US support for Ukraine.
Can Ukraine survive without US support?

The establishment, whom I admit is losing internally, want to continue to support Ukraine. See Mitch McConnel and more, who wants to increase and not decrease, aid to Ukraine. Right now it is in flux.
Makes you wonder if the russians spent most of their money on the republicans?
From what we’ve seen that’s not even a passing concern anymore but nigh on a certainty. That they’ve allowed themselves to be subverted almost completely is a travesty
You’re too optimistic. The Republican base are in any case sympathetic to Putin.
Yeah they are , but as I tried to explain the other day , Republicans would need a majority in both House and Senate to pull the plug. With Democrats opposed to a man and a good number of GOP congressmen Russia hawks , they don’t have the numbers.
Unless I’m misunderstanding American politics, don’t they have to authorise any spending on top of what is currently budgeted? Meaning that they might not be able to pull current spending, but they certainly can hold up any future spending…
I might be misunderstanding it myself. I was thinking of it in the same way that they make laws. i.e. From House to Senate and back to House.
Even if it is just a matter for the House though , I’m still not sure they could command a majority against total Dem opposition. (I suppose that could change though if they take a shitload of seats in the mid-terms.)
In my opinion it is in flux and it’s hard to forecast.
No doubt it’s not a dead cert, but the probabilities are looking that way at least. That said, there’s still around a 20% chance that we don’t have to think about this, if you believe 538…
I think 538 is one of the better forecasters and Nate argues well usually.
It is going to be dreadfully exciting that election.
Important Luhansk/Donetsk front adjustment
One of 3 today (or so Ukraine claims).
